Spot check 19 - 1 = 18 + 12 for moving with in 40 feet
Move Silently check 1 - 7 = -6 (maybe they will mistake me for a herd of stampeding buffalo and flee in panic leaving the girl)
Hide check 5 - 7 = -2 (a shiny buffalo with a sword)
Memnon starts off through the trees shielding the stone but letting just enough light to check his footing. It seems that no matter how careful he is, every stick and leave ends up under his feet and he cringes with every snap and rustle. He get with in forty feet of the nearest enemy and stops.

Are we posting according to our initiatives now? If so could you repost them I forgot a long time ago what I rolled.
Initiative is not being factored in yet. I want to see what you know and what you plan to do.

The ranger draws as close to the fire as he can without revealing his position, stopping when he notices something across the way. He trains his bow toward the south, and also begins looking around his current location.

Lady Janas leaves the goblin and horse, Sherwyn, as she strides openly, directly towards the town wall.
As she approaches from a distance, she shouts up,"Lo, guards, I must speak with your watch senior on a matter of urgency."
Diplomacy roll 1d20+6=11

Ava splits away from the group to get a better look. She's also looking for a postion that will give her the advantage of her sneak attack when the time comes. She has her hand crossbow ready. She looks around wondering where excactly the rest of the enemy is, because common since is that they wouldn't leave the body alone so they have to be somewhere. At least, that's how she would do it.

Lady Janas isn't moving the goblin, or bothering the horse (yet), she is going directly to the town wall.
As Lady Janas approaches from a distance, she calls up to the guard.
"Lo, the guard. I must speak with someone in authority urgently!" she shouts.
"I have a badly injured goblin out here. One that needs immediate care and he will probably give up all he knows. He is part of a raiding party of six that used the watergate near the mill. The other five have captured and escaped with a girl, Estra daughter of Ormod the baker. I await your response but make haste since lives are at stake and every minute matters."
A Katu peers out over the wall. His olive skin is shining from the silvery moon glow permeating through a whole in the clouds. His strong arms hold a half-taught bow, and a single tusk juts upward from his mouth giving his gravely voice an uneven pitch, “What we care about an injured goblin? We can’t be openin’ tha’ gate this late. What you be doin’ out there anyway? Now git befo’ I hav’a’to stick ya’ wit’ an arrow.”

Leaving Lady Janas to alert the watch to the needs of the wounded goblin, Veirax stalks across the clearing with loaded crossbow in one hand and his staff in the other. "Fharlanghn guide us well" he whispers as he nears the position taken by Dardin and Memnon. Surprised to see the knight charge so abruptly, the cleric kneels, drops his staff, and trains his crossbow on the copse where he can see an immobile figure standing by another sprawled on the ground. "Decoys?" he wonders aloud, while looking for any sign of movement in the copse...

Don't bother I rolled rubbish anyway. Nearly managed to upset the watch.
Lady Janas stands tall at this comment from the katu. It's pretty much what she expected. This one will require some serious convincing.
Lady Janas
"You are safe behind those walls and I can understand you have important duties to perform. However one of those duties is to protect your townsfolk. They are not safe. One is at this moment in grave danger taken from your care by goblins. That girl is Estra, daughter of Ormod.
One of the raiding goblins, we have wounded and captured out there," points Lady Janas. Her bow is on her shoulder but she is tensed for any arrow fire from above.
Janas opens her hands and adds, "that goblin needs a healer before interrogation, and his information may save the life of Estra."
"Are you saying that you will not help your own people? Are you saying that the guard are too busy hiding behind their walls? I just want to get this straight before I visit Sergeant Elne or his superiors tomorrow morning," threatens the Lady in a firm voice.
"Before you answer think carefully, Ormod the baker and Pleoh the mill owner have both spoken highly of the guard and their strength in defending the Erian's Glen. Your next actions could tarnish the reputation of all the guards and their leaders."
"All I ask is that you check the watergate, see that the goblins have tampering with it, and send a small group out to me. Surely that will not harm the performance of your duties and may in the long run bring the favour of the likes of Ormod, Pleoh and your superiors."
As Lady Janas finishes her speech, she hopes the katu will look beyond his main orders and follow the spirit of them. She is running out of options.

Dinpel will circle to the back of the copse and come within 20 ft as this could be an ambush; wait and hide until the knight goes in and then respond to the situation as it develops. Mace in hand, lay my xbow on the ground ready to grab if needed for range.
spot 18+2+5+(distance modifier from fire?) 25+ wow best ever; looking more around the copse and outside it as I figure everyone else is watching the two figures and the known gobby, though Dinpel is curious if the two figures are breathing and what races they are.

"What is he doing? Has he lost his mind!" Aradove thinks to herself as she watches Memnon go blasting through the trees right into what she believes is a trap. Aradove runs up to a small boulder about 20 feet from the fire. She has her bow in hand and is ready to fire at anything that seems out of place. Ethelwulf stays close to her as they make this move.
Erian El'ranelen
As he sees Memnon charging into the circle, Erian thinks, Ah, moving to protect the girl despite likely harm to himself...a true knight. Even as he finishes the thought, an arrow is flying from his fine Sceot longbow toward the eastern edge of the camp and the ranger shouts out, "Goblins in the trees! At least one to the south, another southwest, another east. Arrows in the bush are a distraction, sitting figure is a decoy!" As he finishes his warning call, Erian has also finished knocking another arrow and prepares to fire again.
Actions will trigger after Memnon acts, so treated as a Delayed Action for Initiative purposes. Ranged attack roll 13+6=19. Damage 3+5=8. Ah the joys of favored enemies and composite bows...

As Memnon charges into the grove and around the fire to protect the figure on the ground, 5 arrows sail from different directions, east, southeast, south, southwest, & west toward him. Luckily, from the speed of his movement and the angle of his shield, he is unhurt and untouched.

Dinpel’s Scene:
Dinpel leaves the group and does a circuit around the copse of trees. He enters through the south where the fire is barely visible through all the trees and bushes. Sneaking through the trees, listening to the battle to the north, Dinpel spots a lone small sized creature in flowing robes. It is about 35 ft south of the fire and 40 ft to the north of Dinpel. Its back is toward Dinpel and, Dinpel believes he was not heard nor spotted. The creature seems to be speaking in a low tone and performing hand gestures.

Lady Janas's Scene:
The Katu is about to respond again when something behind him catches his attention. He turns his head and appears to be talking to someone. He then turns back around and says, “There could be truth in your words. One of my men just mentioned that he remembers Ormod the Baker talking to an officer earlier today regarding his missing daughter. I have passed on word to send a team out to you. This may take some time. In the meanwhile, although I cannot open the gates, I am willing to drop a rope down for you to climb up, if you wish access back into the city. Be warned though, I still have arrows directed at you.” Lady Janas takes notice of his more formal, less accented speak. The Katu stands there apparently waiting for an answer.

For Dinpel:
The robed goblin finishes his spell, and you notice a slight shadowy aura around him as you approach. He seems to still be unaware of your presence as you stand behind him and swing your mace. With a solid thump to his back, you quickly use your learned talent to siphon away magical energies. You feel the arcane power feel your body and absorb into your being. The creature stumbles forward against your impact and blood and bone splatter around you. The creature turns around in shock and gives Dinpel an agonizing hiss.

I'm a bit turned around in the battle, likely because I'm used to having separate game threads for actions affecting separate players/groups. Right now, Erian's last posted action will trigger sometime after Memnon, right? And then I'll need to post another action for round two? Should we wait and post in init order?

On 21:
Memnon looks up and spots a goblin toward the southeast pulling back its bowstring again. He just barely gets his shield up in time to deflect the missle.
Shepherd's turn, for this scene
On 19...
Shepherd spies the goblin that loosed his arrow against Memnon. The cleric trembles with excitement, not quite used to the rush of combat. He does his best to maintain a steady hand, gets the goblin in his sights despite the failing light, and pulls the trigger. "Please, Fharlanghn, guide this bolt to its target..."
Attack roll: 15... not sure what penalties presently apply for cover/concealment. If that's enough to hit, the damage is 7. Note: if it's unlikely that Shepherd could have targeted the goblin that fired at Memnon from the southeast, then please select a more appropriate target for me, DM... I'm having some difficulty visualizing where we all are. Thanks!

"Thank you, Sir," she relaxes slightly. "I'd prefer to wait here, ropes and climbing by me is not a pretty sight." Janas waves her thin arms in the dark.
"Also I have companions nearby, probably in danger already, so whenever your team is ready I shall lead them to the wounded goblin."Keeping a watchful eye on the archers, Lady Janas continues, "I am Lady Janas Harturi. Might I know your name?"

Dinpel strikes the mage again on his initiative with his mace and is strangely troubled by the thought of taking a life, any life, though this is what he has been trained for by the church and by those who have help engender his racial hatreds. He knows he must take the magic user down before he causes great harm, but he feels pity for the wounded creature.

Yes, on your turn at Inititive 16, your earlier post will happen. I will either repost with a summary or if you beat me to it and feel obliged, you may do so. Your next action will take place with round #2. Yes, now that your group is together, please stay in initiative order.
To try and help visualize the scene:
The original path is 20 ft wide and leads to a grove surrounded by bushes. Approximately in the middle of the grove is a fire pit. There is a 5 ft space around the perimeter between the fire and the bushes. Behind the bushes (10 ft from the fire) are trees (15 ft away from the fire). The goblins are in these trees at 5 different points around the fire: East, Southeast, South, Southwest, & West. I believe that Shepherd & Dardin are 40 ft north of the fire on the trail, Erian is 30 ft north of the fire on the trail. Via posts, I took the liberty of putting Aradove, Ethelwulf, and Ava together (they are to the west off the trail,, 20ft & 15 ft away from the fire respectively, they are closest to the goblin in the west direction.) Memnon is directly to the south of the firepit covering a blond haired woman. Because of the wideness of the trail, all goblins are fair game for everyone. They do have a cover bonus, anyone off the trail also has a cover bonus. Hope this helps.

"Suit yourself," he replies back. "I am Sergeant Nug, South Gate Night Watch Commander. Be advised, passing these messages and forming a team may take some time. Are you injured at all?"
Lady Janas
"Sergeant Nug - it is my pleasure to meet you. I have no wounds. However the goblin raider requires the attention of a healer (as part of your team). He cannot be moved without an expert. Although I have no real knowledge of these things maybe a cart or the like should be prepared?" says Lady Harturi.
She laughs at her own words and looks up at the katu, "I am getting ahead of myself. I am sure your team will be capable, moreso than I."

For Dinpel:
The goblin does not seem interested in surrendering after getting hit a second time. Dinpel sees another opening to swing his mace when the goblin starts some arcane gestures, but the swing is wide. Then the goblin completes its spell and launches two black missiles from its hands that smack into Dinpel. It gives a scream, its tongue darting out as the missiles impact on the Gnome. The goblin starts to immediately perform another series of arcane gesturing.
