Male Half-Elf Bard 1

Erian looks up at the pacing halfling, responding in a somewhat irritated tone, "Get me a healer, and we'll be out of here as quickly as possible! We can heal this thing so it doesn't bleed out when we move it, then question it inside the walls...or at least near to them. There are more tracks, leading along the river just there to a copse of trees in the distance. I'm betting that'll be where we're headed."

Male Halfling Warmage 1

I instantly set off for the river, attempting to be stealthy. "The healer seems to be getting along on his way as we speaks."

Hide: Nat 20 + 6 26

As Aradove and Dinpel approach Erian's position, they notice the ranger kneeling over the goblin covering an arrow wound with some cloth. Ethelwulf is walking a perimeter around the scene looking for intruders. Memnon and Dardin are standing nearby. Elf and Gnome are about 30 ft away from their companions. They see no enemies, and the land is unnaturally quiet. Suddenly, they notice Dardin dart east toward the river. The Halfling quickly disappears in the taller reeds.

The group at the gate notice the positioning of Dinpel and Aradove along with the other group. Then they notice Dardin bolt east and disappear from view.

Spoiler:

I try to avoid distubring any of the rail by the river by staying a good 10 to 15 feet away, and look for a poisition with a good commanding view of the copse of trees we will be heading towards.

Male Half-Elf Bard 1

Seeing Aradove approach, Erian looks to her and says hopefully, "Do you have healing magic sufficient to staunch this wound? If we can get this one stabilized, then conscious, we could question him about the goblin's activities and the missing girl. I've got the wound closed as best I can, but I'm definitely no healer." The ranger has left the arrow in place, knowing that pulling it from the wound would likely further injure (and possibly even kill) the goblin.

Dardin feels that he is sufficiently hidden from view. The copse of trees that the trail leads to is several hundred yards away. It is dark, and only growing darker with the setting sun. Dardin can just make out the lining of trees and bushes on the northern rim.

Spoiler:

Dardin is excited and giddy, and only managing to dredge about a millionth oof his training to the fore.

Anyway, I intend to sit put, and watch for anything coming this way. I have Magic Missile readied as a sniper shot if I spot a goblin.

Lady Janas arrives near Erian shortly after Dardin bolts, clearly out of breath. She spots no other intruders except for the goblin bleeding out that Erian is huddled over.

Ava follows closly behind the Lady. One they reach the spot she stands behind Lady Janas looking at the goblin. She's glad be able to slow down.

When Lady Janas arrives, she will stop to gather her breath first of all. her chest is visibly heaving at the effort.

"Where...," she gasps.

"Ummm, yes, ma'am," stammers the shepherd, blushing through his tan at the lady's smile. He raises his crossbow, keeping the bolt pointed at the sky, and follows her into the clearing where the others have gathered around the goblin. Seeing her gasping as they approach the group, he jogs up beside her, concern evident in his eyes: "lady, what ails you?"

Noting the urgency with which Erian is calling for a healer, Veirax reluctantly leaves Lady Janas to catch her breath on her own. He reaches the ranger and the goblin just before Aradove can close the distance. "Who would have thought that my first opportunity to heal nurse someone on this trip would be for the benefit of a wretched goblin?" mutters the shepherd. He lowers his crossbow and drops the staff he was carrying in the other hand, wraps his hands around the wooden holy symbol that hangs from his neck, closes his eyes and looks down as he whispers a quick prayer to Fharlanghn. "Fharlanghn, may ye show this goblin's spirit a way back to the mortal world, for our paths have become inexorably intertwined and may lead us to lost Estra..." He kneels by the goblin's side as he prays, and spends a few moments binding the wound more securely... "That should stop the bleeding, for now... but I am reluctant to remove the arrow at this time..."

Aradove catches up to Erian and Shepherd. " I do have a spell to cure light/minor wounds but we need to decide if we want to us this on the goblin or if we should wait if one of us needs it."

Dreamweaver and I have family in town this whole weekend starting tonight so posting is going to be a little sketchy we will try our best. If need be post for us please.

Female Elven Scryer1;

"Erian, we can take care of this goblin if you want to help Dardin? Aradove and the Good Shepherd have things squared away here and I can stand guard with Memnon. Aradove can probably keep an idea on Sherwyn too - if he needs it."

"You could take Ava and ... where's Dinpel?" mutters Lady Janas.

She tries to find the gnome, a forlorn hope, but then he can take care of himself.

How far to the copse, please. Spot roll for Dinpel 9

Male Half-Elf Bard 1

Erian nods his agreement, "Good idea. You lot see what you can find out with this one, then you can hand him over to the guard. We'll scout a bit to the south and see what more we can find. Leaving Sherwyn here is a good idea--he's not too stealthy...Memnon, you're welcome to ride him if you'd like and the need arises, though he's not trained for war." Erian moves carefully toward the far line of trees, senses alert for danger as he inspects the tracks further.

The copse of trees is 400 yards away, I believe.

Female Elven Scryer1;

What is it they say in Call of Cthulhu about splitting the party . . . ? But then 400 yards is nothing, it only takes Janas 10 rounds to get there at a full run if anything kicks off! OMG!

Lady Janas toys with the idea of going with Erian as he slinks off, but interrogation of a goblin is something she can do.

The Lady goes over to the Shepherd. As she goes she whispers to Ava,"Let the Shepherd be nice first, then if that doesn't work be ready to intimidate the hell out of this little horror."

When she reaches Veirax, Lady Janas leans over him and whispers encouragement, "You are doing just fine. Don't worry if the goblin doesn't buy it, Ava's ready to frighten the life out of it and I have spells as a last resort."

Veirax says a simple prayer over the unconscious goblin and helps Erian tend its wounds. Unfortunately, the goblin does not stir. You fear that without magical healing, the goblin may not come around for several days, if at all. Your healing experience tells you that he should not be moved either.

Info on the goblin for anybody interested:

Spoiler:
This goblin is currently at -7 hp. It will take days for it to recover naturally, and only if disease does not fester first. Magical healing may require more than one spell depending on how well you roll. You will want to decide if this goblin is worth it.

Aradove catches up to Erian and Shepherd. " I do have a spell to cure light/minor wounds but we need to decide if we want to us this on the goblin or if we should wait if one of us needs it."

Seeing the goblin is so badly injured, Lady Janas understands what Aradove

and Veirax meant by using valuable healing on the goblin. That was some shot by Erian!

"I don't know," she answers their questions. "But there are five more nearby."

"I'll be glad to scare the crap out the little bugger in if we can heal him," says Ava with grin on her face.

Erian El'ranelen wrote:

For Erian:

Spoiler:
Erian follows the tracks to within 300 ft of the copse of trees. The tracks tell him nothing new. (There are at least 6, and they were dragging a body.)

In the haze of twilight, Erian is unable to make anything out beyond the rim of the darkened copse. He is only able to make out the silhouettes of the northern trees and bushes. Patience pays though. As twilight becomes nightfall, he is able to spot the faintest din of light forming a short distance inside the copse. He believes it is firelight. Erian moves a little closer, within 200 ft, and he is able to tell that for some reason a campfire is lit. He is barely able to make out the silhouettes of two forms. One is sitting up on the right (west) side of the fire pit, and on the south side of the fire pit, is a form sprawled on the ground. He does not notice movement from either of the forms.

It is officially nightfall.

"Hmmm... five more? Fortune may yet turn against us. This one's bleeding has been staunched, but I think he will remain unconscious for some time. Aradove, I suggest that we wait to use our healing powers on this goblin until we see the outcome of any action involving its allies. We should guard this one to make sure that no further harm comes to it and that its companions do not take it back. Let us prepare for the immediate threat first. If we fare well, then we will be in a better position to expend some of our divine powers to aid this wretched creature... what say you, Lady Janas, Aradove?"

Male Halfling Warmage 1

I pad up quietly behind Erian,

"What see you tall one?"

Male Half-Elf Bard 1

Motioning for Dardin to follow, Erian quietly makes his way back toward the main group. There, the ranger reports his findings, "Definitely continued toward the trees, at least six dragging someone. With the failing light I can't make out much, but I did find there's a campfire burning in there--odd, I'd think, for a group not looking to be followed, especially with goblins not needing the light. I saw two figures, one sitting and one lying down but neither moving. If we go in, we'll need light, and we'll have to move fast."

Male Halfling Warmage 1

"Methinks me can blast the fire pit from ney much closer than we were after being already, should serve to toss them into a fit like a childer girl with a spider in her hair."

"Be some the chance be comin that they be some fools a wanderin' about outside the wall huntin' er fishin er some springtwisted youngins explorin the tender flesh, should be not givin them much more den a terible scare."

"Zisa?"

A second later, "er, Good idea?"

Dinpel considers answering, after a long pause of being lost in his hatred for goblins and not wanting to give away his guard position; he writes a short note on a piece of paper and wads it around a small rock; he is going to throw it low into the parties midst trying to hit the Lady's calf.

rolled a Nat. 20 for the Lady's Spot Check. See Dinpel's spoiler, if you read the note.

Female Elven Scryer1;

Lady Janas bends down to "check the ground" for tracks. Meanwhile she slides the note into the palm of her hand.

Lady Janas moves over to the rest of the group and shows them Dinpel's note while talking quietly.

note as per Dinpel's spoiler

"Veirax, perhaps it is time to make a move and get after the other little horrors. It's going to a take a while to catch up with the other two now that night has fallen. If the goblin isn't going anywhere then shall we all make a move?"

"It may be wise to bring Sherwyn, Aradove, in case we need to get a message back to Erian's Glen quickly," adds the Lady.

"Ava - I am afraid your scare tactics will have to be postponed for now.

Male Half-Elf Bard 1

Erian looks down at the fallen goblin, then back toward the woods. "We need to get in there as quickly as possible. Veirax and Aradove, can either of you use enough magic to stablize the goblin, but not bring about consciousness? If so, we can do that, tie him to Sherwyn, then headto the woods to see what's what. If we go back to the city, all or some of us may be detained for questioning and such--we may not have that kind of time."

Is the goblin stable or not? I thought at first he was stable but did I miss something? Aradove will use her cure minor wounds if she needs to. Heal Check 17+5=22

Female Elf Druid

Aradove listens to Erian's ideas. "I am able to take care of Sherwyn if need be Handle Animal Roll 9+7=16 You are more than welcome to take Ethelwulf, however I typically use Druid with him. He does understand Elvish so you would need Ava, Dardin, Lady Jana or Shepherd to speak with him. I can tell him to obey you but as he is a wild animal, his instincts do come first and sometimes he doesn't listen. If needed I can stay with the goblin however with my low light sight I might be better used to scout about the goblins. With Dinpel hiding I feel that we need to act quickly. What are the rest of you planning to do?" Aradove says this while looking about the rest of the group.

Aradove Dawntracker wrote:

More info on the goblin:

Spoiler:

The goblin is stable for now, but since he should be dead because he is at -7 hp, he may become unstable if moved while having negative hp. Normally, I would rule that at 0 hp an enemy is dead. Since, Erian really wanted to question the little tike, I allowed some flexibility in the rules. On the other hand though, I am attempting to add some difficulty to the task. After several days the goblin may or may not heal naturally depending on my rolls. In his current state, I plan on rolling a stability check every day. Unless, of course, he is magically healed or he is one lucky goblin and heals naturally, he will eventually succomb to the arrow wound. Also, if he is moved while at negative HP, I will make a stability check.

Male Human Knight 2

"You have found the others? What are we waiting for lets go get the girl back."

Memnon looks at the group talking about what they should do. "Dardin lets give the others a couple minutes to sneak in close and how about you and I just have a talk with some goblins." Memnon draws his sword to emphasizes his idea of talking.
"The two of us would not be enough to scare them into doing something stupid and hurt the girl so I say we bring the fight to them."

Female Elf Druid

Aradove looks back to the goblin, "I feel that if we try to move this goblin that he will parish. It is in our best interest if I try to heal him." Aradove kneels next to the goblin who doesn't smell exactly wonderful but she choices to ignore it for the moment. Aradove looks towards the sky and places her hands on the goblins head. "Ehlonna, the goddess of the woodlands please give this goblin the strength to heal these wounds that have been bestowed upon him. Please help brings these wounds together to heal properly and restore his strength." With that Aradove takes a deep breath in and then lets out a quite sigh. "This is all that I can do, I hope it will be enough." This should heal one point of damage so that he stops losing hit points and becomes stable. Assuming I am correct there DM.

Aradove Dawntracker wrote:

My plan is unless he has 0 or postive HP, the goblin may lose stability. You may have your spell back, if you decide you do not want to use it.

Female Elven Scryer1;

Lady Janas steps forward.

"So, the goblin lives but cannot be moved. Our good shepherd wants one of us to get the guard's attention and bring them to this little horror. Memnon and Dardin intend to head into the copse, possibly with Aradove and Erian."

"That leaves one of Ava, Veirax and I to take care of the goblin. Ava is good at sneaking like Dinpel so perhaps she should move up with Erian and Aradove. Our healer needs to be with the warriors. Possibly with Memnon and Dardin but definitely not left behind."

"I'll warn the watch, while you all head on after the girl. Veirax - her life is what really matters now."

The moon is hidden by a softly clouded dome of sky. A feint glint of translucent silver can be seen, but it sheds little light onto the grassy floor before you. The storm that has been threatening all day seems to still be deciding if it will come or go. As you follow the tracks and approach the copse from the north, you find ample ground to hide behind rogue trees, boulders, and tall grasses. If you were spotted coming, no action inside the copse indicates this. You now stand at the rim between plain and copse. A wide 20 ft trail leads straight south toward a glowing light that is flickering off the shadows. The light is 150 ft away.

Some have provided Spot & Listen Checks, others please roll. I am using your initial initiative rolls, if needed.

You may add +5 to Spot Checks if you have Low-Light Vision, +10 for Darkvision once you are within 40 ft of the light.

Special Note: For every 10 ft you approach the light, add 1 to your Spot Check.

Spot Checks:
