I like animals, I like hanging out with animals. Animals are fascinating and deserve a thread of their own. So post you’re pets!

Well... Go on then!

Little ginger prince.

Siblings.

Hello sailor!

Plants count as pets... right? :)

Well, other than the toddler and myself, my wife has 6 pets in the (small) house:
Dogs: Havoc and Mayhem, a Golden and a Yellow Lab respectively
Cats: Arizona (long hair), Alexander (medium hair), Sabrina (Persian)
Fish: Red, a betta (creative, eh? He is the follow up to Azul, my boy's first fish who passed on to the great toilet bowl in the sky.)

My beautiful african millipede 'Giger' sadly now deceased. :(

Millipedes are creeeeepy. These are some older pictures of my kitty Chou Chou (shoo shoo) and Cuteface, who was named by a three year old, sadly.

Chou and Cutie a couple months ago.

I hates it!

Just in case.

Right now I've only technically one cat, Bruno. ( He came with that name.) He's a black american domestic shorthair that is polydactyl. I had his brother, Andre, but didn't get him castrated and he got run off by some other toms. Their sister, Bella, lived with me for a while too, but she got got by an owl.

We also have two bettas and a shubunkin goldfish. One of the bettas is named Red and the other is William Betta Travis. The goldfish is named Cracker. He is the only survivor of a raccoon raid on our pond.

I'm that kind of #&&hole that feeds strays and I keep track of their population and who is the alpha of the 'pride'. Also, the neighbors' cats love hanging out at my house, so I kind of have them too - just can't keep them.

Our cats called Bella too! (the one who poses like a hussy) I am one of those people who would end up with tons of cats if not watched and told 'NO MORE!' by the other half every now and then -hells I'd have a jungle in my home if I could. I really want a lizard now.

We used to have cold water fish including some shubunkin, one fish we had (called Susan Weaver) lived for years and years but then we bought one of those bubble-headed ones (that looked a lot like Winston Churchill) and he ate her fins and killed her. We lost a cat once (he had great taste in magazines), he just went out one day and never came back! :( I have other pets but their shy -I'll try to snap them today. :)

That second pic is so cute -it made me go: Squeee! and point at the screen thus alarming my friend and causing him to look then making him do the same. :)

I have a bossy little rabbit named Arwyn.

So I was going to argue with Shamgar about all of those being *my* pets, but then I remembered, oh shoot, I really am responsible for getting this whole menagerie. Not that he argued much.
Anybody want a crazy persian that tries to kill any other cat she sees? (looks around hopefully. sees no takers.) Sigh. Didn't think so.

Yeah. She's ridiculously cute. She makes pigeon noises, kills moths, and makes funny faces, all of which I have failed to capture on film.

Oh! I'm thinking about getting a dog, prolly a lab or a lab mix. Does anyone know how they get along with cats? This is a pretty important factor to me getting one and I haven't really been able to find any info on it. Thanks!

I want a doggy, only I wanna smallish one like a west highland terrier or something. :) You should get a labradoodle (lad/poodle mix) they are like labs (cool, loyal clever etc) and they don't shed hair! :) Great with kids, good at learning, get on with other pets etc. Takes a while for cats to get used to anything of course. ;)

We have a lab and a golden, and other than the lab "playing" with the cat by grabbing him with her mouth one time (she was totally gentle about it, the only thing that got hurt was the cat's dignity) the dogs and cats mostly ignore each other. It helps that the dogs were introduced to the cats when they were puppies and taught to be gentle with them. Overall, labs are very friendly and gentle in general. I'd recommend the book "The Art of Raising a Puppy" by the monks of New Skete. It's really good info on how to communicate with and train a puppy.

Standard poodle, black. All the joys of cat-chasing, crotch-sniffing and rabid barking , without the shedding.

My family always had poodles, I love them. Only thing I don't like about them is when you send them to get trimmed and they come back looking like 'Little miss Foo Foo' -what a revolting development! I always made sure my poodle (the one I had when I was a kid) was shaggy and fun -like the dog/muppet from Fraggle Rock which the lighthouse keeper owned.

We've got an Australian Sheperd - he sheds like crazy and will chase anything that moves. For some inexplicable reason, he's dead scared of my bike (only when parked, though) and the refrigerator, but he balances that out by ignoring the existence of cars or buses...

Three cats... Tons of hairballs and vomit... Kitty litter spread out about half a mile radius from the litter-box... Trillions of gigaquads of memory chips filled with useless pictures of said three cats (my other half is nuts, she sends me those picture at work (why??))... Yeah, real fun!! Lol!

Hymalayan - Moogy
Siamese - Keiko
Siamese - Pixelle

Ultradan
(They're cute as hell though)

I have one cat, black shorthair, Scoutis Maximus (Scout) and four turtles that are taking up wall space where my new bookshelf is supposed to go. Turtles anyone? No? That's okay, I'll will them to my grandchildren, maybe I'll have a room in heaven with lots of bookshelves. My hubby and I really want a golden retriever but can't find one within five hundred miles for under a whole lot of money.

I have 3 cats

Chip-pic here the greyish cat who is afraid of people trying to pet him and always starts a fight with the other cats

Dip- the welcoming black cat who always trys to lick you and have you pet him picture of him and the king of the bunk here

and Salsapic here a orange fluffy cat who likes to beg for food everytime i eat.

For dogs i have one, Maggie- She sleeps alot she doesn't chase the cats, but the cats always go near her and never leave her alone which is funny. The funny part is the Salsa when ever someone is at the door growls.

Stewart is my folks' dog. Neurotic, huge, hyperactive.

Ollie is my (pictured) older sister's Docsen. He's very sweet, but the first time I picked him up both of my sister's started laughing and pointing, shouting,"Lipstick! Lipstick!" I didn't know what they were talking about until I looked down...

I guess he really likes me.

My pets are Tiger (named when I was 7) who is a orange tabby, getting rather old and having stomach issues. He also is very overweight and eats whenever the opportunity presents itself and Fern, my old, slightly sour dog.

Personally I can't abide millipededs, or centipeds, or anything with more than 8 legs. They've jus always bothered me. Other bugs don't bother me at all (unless they have a dangerous venom) but centipedes and millipedes make me shiver. I don't know why.

Millipedes are smashing little creatures! But I agree with you about centipedes -they are creepy, nasty, lightning fast little killers! Keep them away! :O

The centipedes we have in Colorado aren't dangerous they're just nasty.

I actually thought this thread was titled post pests.

I'll leave now.

That doesn't bode well...

We have a skinny black cat, an old ginger lady cat, and a rabbit (a mini rex) who was the best impulse buy ever. Unfortunatey we named the rabbit Arthur Hobbes before we found out that he was in fact a girl.

Arthur is sickeningly cute, I'll post pics of her when I get home from work.

Blasphemy! Labradoodles are one of those things that should NEVER have existed. How can anyone take a real dog like a lab and ruin it in such a fashion?

I grew up always having a dog, and for most of my life the family pets have been black labs. Tragically, the divine Mrs. Zombie is allergic. Besides, we currently don't have time to devote to a dog.

I do have something that I think could be a pet. I got something growing in a cup that I think moved the other day. I'm going to try and start feeding it stuff. If that works, I'll try and teach it a few tricks.

But they do exist! ;P

Erm... :) I really shouldn't mention the goats that scientists are mixing with spider DNA in order to produce liquid silk...

(I read that in New Scientist around three or four years ago and have been freaked out about it since then!)

well, my dog Loki is a yellow lab; great dog.
I have a 55 gallon fish tank, am letting them all die off so I can drain and move it; only Bubba my tank cleaner is left; his is about a foot long and pretty cool; I will probably just move him to my birthing tank and then after fixing the room up; get some new guys.
Their are lots of rabbits and squirrels on my property who live their; not tame, but not shy; I have taken to naming them and putting out water and some viddles; mostly for the birds; have several nests too. I have a few favorite crickets; love em, but they dont have names. Hehe; I also still have my pet rock, Spike, who is a pirate that I got back in '76 where I wanted Ford to win the election and not Carter. Spike is a Repulican, I think he is going to take up corporate raiding as he seems to keep being a paperweight for my stock portfolio; but, then again I keep catching him eyeing my fish tank, course, he only has one eye.

Sheesh, I have a lot of plants; they take more care and feeding than any animal I share space with, want more sun; want more water, feed me; need more potting soil; its too windy, its too Sunny; all this water is drowning me; hey buddy; we live here not those weeds and that grass is invading - call the UN , I dont feel well, I have a virus, a bug or more, a parasite, sheesh. Bunch of whiners if you ask me.

We've got two cats and one dog, all adopted from local animal rescue groups (so they already had their names).

Inky is an arthritic old lady cat with medium-length black fur. She's the queen of our household. She hates cats. HATES.

Ollie (Oliver) is the young, athletic orange-striped cat-shaped bane of Inky's existence. He has the brains of Pinky (from Pinky and the Brain). His favorite activity is to run along the tops of our kitchen cabinets, back and forth as fast as he can go. He KNOWS that if he runs fast enough, eventually, he'll find the path away from up there. Or maybe he doesn't know anything. We have very clear evidence that he certainly doesn't THINK.

And Pete is our rescue dog, he's a beagle/cavalier king charles spaniel mix. He's sweet and gentle, and he knows that Inky outranks him in the family pack, but he isn't sure if Ollie does or not. This causes Pete to suffer from severe anxiety at times.

What? No complaints about gophers? Snails? Lucky ba@&*#d!

My father puts a bowl of guinness for the slugs and snails -at least they die merry! ;)

hehe; nope, those critters dont seem to like the high desert; snails in my tank are very rare as the Clown Loach ate them. Gophers around here seem to prefer alfalfa fields to my place; maybe the dog drives them off; he sure gives the birds a hard time.

While I do agree that the concept of a labradoodle is inherently ridiculous, they have two things going for them - they don't shed, and, more importantly, they are supposed to be allergy-neutral. They sure look stoopid, though...

...I have a pet rock (no pics, too embarassed). I love cats though, and would have one if most of my family was not allergic. Later I may give you an embarassing pucture of me and a stuffed tiger, if I can get it from the person who took it.

My kitty died on December 31, 2006. :(

I'm not ready to replace him yet. Rest in peace, Pincushion William Londonderry, Esq. You are sorely missed.

That's an interesting name. My brother has a min pin whose full name is Kaiser Rudolph von Falstaff.

My grandmother had a dog named Boregard Boudroe Jones.[sp?]

My pets are- three spoiled cats (one of which is enourmously fat, and loves to walk across my keyboard and send all of my emails) and two dogs. One of my dogs is a little Pomeranian mix, and is so stupid, she chased her own shadow, and is deathly afraid of grasshoppers.

Mum had a dog named Phideaux. :)

She's a star. I really love her.

The thing I like about dogs is you can take them out everywhere you go, take them camping etc. Really gotta get one -I'd love one of those dreadlock dogs.

Mind you, one of my cats follows me all over but its a bit of a worry at times because I don't always want him to follow me across town to the supermarket etc. (He hides in the bushes outside until I come back out.) :/

I'm jealous. My wife is allergic, so we can't get a dog.

How about getting a dog anyway and buying your wife one of these? :D

Well, I have a nice pic of my dog; Lilith will you post it for me if I send it to you?
