as you can see, Laucian's view of the war forged has just dropped considerably. But he still has a good amount of respect for him
Give me a few more posts, you will find him just shy of reprehensible. The concept is basically one of the 'followers' from Life of Brian... "He has given us his gourd!"
Myrkar
"Yes, we are still here and still would appreciate your leading us to this dragon. Here, we should tie ourselves together with rope so that we don't get seperated." I say and dismiss the invocations. Then I get some rope and tie it around my waist and hand it on to the warforged. "Once we're all tied together I'll use the invocation again.
Laucian Liadon
Laucian, are making hide checks? If your all invisible, can you see each other? I wouldn't think you'd be able to see each other. I don't have my books with me right now.
No I’m not, but I just seem to walk half in any surrounding
shadows better then anyone else. Just a thing Laucian does!I gently poke the halfing on the shoulder and say "lead the way little one, we are all here. You can't see us but we are here."
I hope I didn't scare him! BTW Myrkar, did you cast the spell on me?
Jedediah Sparks
Jed has been staring at a particularly interesting section of wall paneling. He turns around to find Dahak standing not two feet in front of him.
"GAH!" shouts the fighter as he draws, then quickly holsters his pistols. He then pushes past the warforged, blatantly eavesdropping on the conversation.

Shiny, since you and Dirk were going to be gone for a while, I was taking these guys on a side quest. It's not a part of the story and I'll make sure you and Dirk get caught up with XP, but if you want I'll NPC your character during the parts your gone. Let me know what you want to do.
The halfling says, "Oh!" and takes the end of the rope and leads you up the large set of stiars that traverses the city (with Jed and Ashur following at a distance). As you step onto the Fifth Tier, you take in the Cathedral of the Silver Flame. The huge gothic building dominates the cliffside. You pass through the North Gate and onto the bare mountian.
The halfling leads you up a narrow pass and after about an hour of climbing, you emerge onto a flat piece of ground. Falling from the cliffs above into a deep lake, is a hundred foot water fall. Behind the fall is an cave. The halfling turns and says, "The dragon supposed' t' live in there. I ain't goin no further. I'm sure you can find yer way back to town." He turns and heads back down the mountian toward the city.

It doesn't really matter that much. Whatever floats your boat.
Myrkar
Yes, we are all invisible.
I say "I have another invocation that we might find useful in this situation. It will allow us to see in any darkness, even magical ones." I briefly touch my eyes with my left hand and immediatley the area becomes clear as day to my sight. I proceed to do this to the rest of the group.
I'm using my Devil's Sight invocation.
Revan Del Rey
"Heh heh... tingly," I chuckle to myself as the enchantment washes over me, perhaps a little more amused at myself than I should be.
"Hangon a second," I say, waving off the others. "Allow me a moment to take a little peek."
I move cautiously forward, until I am very close to the cave entrance. Creeping forward a half-step at a time, I scan the cave mouth for any signs of manufactured defenses.
Search check (looking for traps) 13 + 10 = 23
DM Vissigoth
Revan doesn't see any traps.
Suddenly the water explodes, sending dropplets raining down on you. Seven long snake like heads emerge from the spray.
The heads scan the area, searching for the prey it smells, but cannot see.
Roll Initiative
Updated Battle Map
I used your character portraits on the battle map. Let me know if you like this or the colored circles better.
Laucian Liadon
Init=10+5=15 I definatly like the pics, they work better then the dots I think, but that is just my opinion
When the heads broke the surface of the water, Laucian instinctivly started to hide, but remembering that he was invisible, began to ready his hand crossbow and nunchaku. Using me two handed fighting feat. When I can attack, would my sudden attack be usable? If so tell me!
Oh could you change the pic on the site for me? I am the ninja mini figure.
Myrkar
Walk Unseen ends as soon as you attack. As long as this creature isn't immune to sneak attack (and sudden strike) than you should be able to get the extra sudden strike damage.
Iniative: natural 20 Woot!
I spring back in surprise as the thing bursts out of the water and instantly begin to summon the eldritch power that infuses my soul. I appear about 15ft back from my former position and let a lance of eldritch power fly towards the thing that attacked us.
Using my eldritch blast Touch Attack: 21 (13+7+1 point blank shot) Damage: 18 Stepping 15 ft back and the using my invocation, ending Walk Unseen for me. I like the pictures better than the dots, easier to keep track of.
DM Vissigoth
Since your invisible, you'll get your sudden strike when you attack. The monster also desn't get it's DEX bonus to AC if you're invisible.
We'll wait till I get everybody's Init, then you can post your actions, but you'll probably go first Myrkar.
Sorry Laucian, I used your old avatar. I'll change it next time I update the map.
DM Vissigoth
Ok, the Init order is:
Myrkar
Laucian
Monster
Revan
Dahak
Mykar, your attack hits, but does only minor damage to the scaly beast.
Laucian, it's your turn.
Updated Battle Map
Sometimes the changes don't show up for a while after I update.
Revan Del Rey
Okay, well, technically the monster goes before me, but seein' as he doesn't seem to be doing much, I'll go ahead and post my action. I may need to adjust it though, depending on what it actually does during its turn.
I glance about, looking for a suitable spot of cover. A large rock, a thick tree, something that will put a solid object between myself and this overgrown lizard.
Providing I'm able to find something, preferably within 30 feet, I dash towards it, ducking myself down to where I am partially concealed, yet still able to see and fire at the creature.
I then draw my shortbow and load it.
DM Vissigoth
Sorry for not posting. I've gotten addicted to (I'm almost embarassed to say this) Viva Pinata.
Remember:
Sunder provokes an AoO but applies damage to head.
Normal attacks apply damge to body.
Laucian, your attack hits, piercing the beast's hide, but it doesn't seem to have the affect you hopped for.
Oh boy, seven attacks!
bite 1 vs. Laucian: hit, 7 damage
bite 2 vs. Laucian: miss
bite 3 vs. Laucian: hit, 12 damage
bite 4 vs. Laucian: hit, 11 damage
bite 5 vs. Laucian: hit, 11 damage
Laucian falls to the ground at -2 hp. Sorry
The hydra then moves toward Myrkar, provoking an AoO from Dahak.
Revan, I went ahead and let you take your turn, the only cover was inside the mouth of the cave. It's a DC 20 Str check to remain standing while moving through one of the light blue waterfall squares. The waterfall provides you with improved cover(+8 to AC, +4 to Reflex Saves) from the hydra.
Pending Dahak's AoO, the hydra will finish his attacks then it will be Dahak's turn.
Dahak Ironheart
Got real excited by the natural 20 to hit, then rolled a 2 to confirm
I am not sure I can rage on an AoO, if I can add +2 to hit and +3 damage
"Abomination!!!"
My flail comes arcing down with all the anger and power I can put behind the swing.
To hit: 20 + 10 - 6 (power attack) = 24
Damage = 4 + 5 + 12 (power attack) = 21
Revan Del Rey
Grrr. Strength check roll 19. Failed by one!! >< What happens now, I fall over and get washed down the valley into eventual obscurity?
Also, just to be sure I'm reading this correctly-- We need to use a Sunder combat action to damage each head? That's a melee-only maneuver, isn't it?
DM Vissigoth
Yeah, that sucks. I just did the same thing in a PbP in playing in.
You flail smashes into the beasts flank as it lunges past you. The beast roars in pain.
Sorry about the confusion Revan, but you didn't need the Str check because you moved diagonaly behind the water fall. I just mentioned the Str check in case you wanted to leap through the water fall or something.
And yes, you must make a sunder attempt to affect the heads. Sunder attempts can only be made with a melee slashing or blugeoning weapon. My advice (because I know your not used to playing spellcasters) is to hang back and blast it with a AoE fire spell after Dahak lops off a head.
Myrkar, it's your turn again.
Dahak Ironheart
Um no it isn't, my previous action was an AoO
Free action, 5' step left
Free action, Rage
Full attack, full power attack and an action point on the first attack:
While Raging, Dahak Full Attacks, hitting AC 20, doing 27 damage. Then he attacks again, hitting AC 15, doing 12 damage.
None to bright, but I plan on beating it into submission
Myrkar
"Aim for the heads!" I shout again and move back another 20ft. Once I'm a safe distance away I invoke another blast of Eldritch fury.
Eldritch Blast 14 (7+7) 15 pts damageIf that would provoke an AoO than I tumble out of its space and make a double move action to move 30ft away from the creature after I tumble. Tumble 16 (13+3). If this is so than I'll make the attack next round.

Sorry Dahak.
Only your first attack conects with the beasts scaly hide, it quickly dodges out of the way of your second swing.
Myrkar, moving 10ft. back puts you against the cliff wall and does not provok an AoO. The eldritch energy arcs from your finger tips, slamming into the beast's body.
Laucian, roll a d%. If you get 90 or better, you become stable. If not, you lose 1 hit point.
The beast lashes out at Dahak with all seven of it's heads.
attack 1: hit, 5 damage
attack 2: hit, 8 damage
attack 3: miss
attack 4: miss
attack 5: hit, 10 damage
attack 6: miss
attack 7: miss
Dahak is now at 43 hp (Double check my math).
It is now Revan's turn.

Thanks for the tip. Sadly, I was prepped for Burglary, not combat, so I don't have any offensive spells memorized, save Magic Missile (and being only level 3, my offensive spell selection is rather narrow anyway).
I do have a few handy-dandy vials of Alchemists fire, though...
Seeing as my combat options are somewhat limited, I'll reach into my pack and ready a vial of alchemist's fire for throwing, in case a head gets chopped off.
ARGH!! Anybody got Use Magic Device? My dumb%^& completely forgot to give myself the Use Magic Device skill. I've got a Wand of Cure Light Wounds that I bought specifically for that purpose, which could probably be of use to Laucian right about now, but apparently I'm too stupid to take the skill that would let me use it.
Dahak Ironheart
I continue trying to work my way around behind the creature, as though I am going to make it to a flanking position, then I continue to beat the beast mindlessly.
Again a full power attack, action point on first attack
While Raging, Dahak Full Attacks, hitting AC 21, doing 20 damage. Then he attacks again, hitting AC 17, doing 13 damage.
Laucian Liadon
here is my role-playing for this occasion.
UUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHH
anyway my % was 31, so i'm now at -3 hp. The reason i'm not a frequent poster is because we only have dial-up internet and my mom is a internet addict and gets all huffy when i'm on for more that 5-minutes. I hope you all understand!

I did a similar thing. A whole string of sorcerers without a single point in spell craft! I even did that with a rather high level spell caster and was screwed for the whole campaign!
Revan Del Rey
I raise an eyebrow when Dahak starts singing while pulping the remains of the beast. "Destroy all of the heads and then cauterize the necks so they can't grow back. Oh, and we should probably heal the ninja." I say as I look around the chamber.
Spot 15 (15+0)
"I've got something that may do the trick for that!" I hollar back. "But I haven't yet figured out how to decipher the proper incantations to make the thing work. Maybe you'll have better luck, sorceress!"
Myrkar
"Than hand it to me! Hopefully I can figure it out." I shout back.
Presuming that he tosses the wand back to me:
I examine the wand for a moment and then hold it over the incapacitated ninja, muttering "I hope I can remember how to work these." before attempting to activate the item.
Use Magic Device 27 (15+12)

I think you're out of my line of sight at the moment, I'll have to move towards you first on my next turn.
Laucian Liadon
Alright, my lazy ass is off the ground, but cut him some slack, he just got bitten a whole bunch of times by a really nasty creature. Your ass would be on the ground if that happened to you.
And now...for my actions. As Laucian comes back to consciousness, he staggers a bit and grabs for whoever is closer to steady himself.
Many thanks Mykar for the healing!
Revan Del Rey
Seeing as the creature has collapsed and is seemingly dead, I decide to politely suggest to the others that we cut the heads off as Myrkar suggested, and then douse the beast with flame to be on the safe side.
Reaching into my pack, I produce several vials of alchemist's fire {a total of five}, hoping they'll be enough to get the job done.
