In a Stat block Melee section, what does "+18/+13/+8" mean in the example below:
+2 battleaxe +18/+13/+8 (1d8+8/19-20/x3)
?

thanks

The character's BAB is high enough that he gets multiple attacks. These are the attack bonuses for the three attacks he gets when he does a full attack action.

Yes, on a full attack.

Note that its three attacks per round, two of which start having a really hard time hitting the more powerful nasties.

Don't worry this won't unbalance anything at this level. The monsters are very powerful and usually have many attacks. The spell casting classes are now using some really potent mojo. Your more likely to find that these extra attacks don't really compensate compared to what the other classes are getting then that the attacks are too powerful.

Unless you are talking about the occulus demon... sheesh I was rolling dice forever with that guy.

If you're DMing the Savage Tide AP...

Spoiler:
...wait'll you get a load of the Orlath.

Err... Age of Worms (this is still a part of Dungeon magazine, and I was on topic I thought). My point was Occulus Demon had 7 attack rolls (I think it was meant to be 8... no bite attack in the statblock but it's there in the description). Here are the dice, 22 in all for a full attack from Augerric:

7d20 (3 ranged touch, 3 unholy melee, 1 melee)
9d8
6d6 (if good)

I'll still argue that he should have gotten a bite attack somewhere too.

Welcome to high level gaming. Don't worry though, the players will be throwing out handfuls of dice as well. My party's 14th level ranger has either 5 or 6 attacks per round doing upwards of 20 points per hit. And the warmage's disintegrate does 28d6 on a failed save. If you don't like rolling all those dice I suggest the "players roll all the dice" rule from Unearthed Arcana. I spend less time rolling dice, and it keeps the players active when it's not their turns.
