Looking for a Prestige Class

3.5/d20/OGL

Hey all you readers of many more splat sources than me:

I am looking for a prestige class that will stack well on top of barbarian, and give just enough spontaneous arcane acess to qualify for dragon disciple.

Character sheet in my profile...

Can anyone point me in the direction of a decent prestige class that goes with barbarian, that will let me meet the requirements for dragon disciple?

Char sheet is in my profile.

I know you want a PrC, but at the moment I can't think of any. Besides, just take one level in bard or sorcerer and you can become one. I'd say that even with the low hit points you'd gain by multiclassing into the sorcerer your health will still be high in the end and your abilities with the Dragon Disciple will certainly make up for it. It would probably be easier just multiclassing into it, but if I find a PrC later, I will post it back to you.

That would be true if barbarian was a warforged favored class, alas that honor belongs to fighter. If I grab 1 level of sorceror, I would be staring down the barrel of an XP penalty forever, and if I even out sorceror with barbarian, I end up not wanting dragon disciple until level 12 or so...

Is there a feat that would let me change my favored class? that would work

There's Diverse Background from Races of Destiny, but that's for half-humans (like half-elves and half-orcs).

There really should be a general feat that grants an additional favored class. Because really, who cares if you want to multiclass a lot? The XP penalty is a lame holdover from the old days anyway (holdover in that it arbitrarily enforces a very first and second-edition tenet of equalized multiclassing).

Whoops. Found one of my soapboxes. Sorry. ^_^

Hmm.. diverse background grants an additional favored class...

I could easily imagine a feat finding its way into pathfinder that grants a different one instead of an additional one...

Personally, I think the xp penalty makes a certain sort of sense, in the real world I am an engineer, if i suddenly decide to become a doctor, i am gonna be crap-arse-slow at becoming a good doctor, or becoming a better engineer...

The Dragon Disiple PrC allows a scorcerer or a bard to bring out the draconic potental in their blood. Warforged don't have blood. You need to come up with a really good RP reason to have it.

I'll allow you to take a feat that allows you to change your favored class.

Diverse Backround
Prereq: 1st level only, any non human
Benifit: You may change your favored class.

Given the opportunity, Dahak intends to be collecting some dragon's blood. Zeranthex had some enemies, what does a slightly insane servant of a false god do with their spare time other than hunt down enemies?

In Races of Dragon there in a PrC, that gives you two levels in Sorc, and the Dragonic template... but it only has Med BaB.

You could also just use Races of the Dragon to add the half-dragon template by taking the Draconic Racial Class on page 71.

A whole feat just to change favored classes? I'd rather take Toughness. Maybe if it gave the favored class of All, like humans. But having two favored classes is a little more... I don't know... sexy...? But I digress!

Darn your logic! ;D

Well, on the other hand, I think there should be a "prestige" version of all the base classes. Basically, if you meet certain prereqs you pay no xp penalty.

Fighter 5 rogue 1 is bad unless you have this alignment and that feat or something.

Pshaw. "Doctor" is CLEARLY a prestige class. Multiclassing the core classes is more like double-majoring-- totally doable.
