Okay folks, after reading my Evil Campaign thread, my wife has decided that she wants to join a Play-by-Post game run by yours truly here on the boards. Since I don't want to have to wedge an additional character into the evil Calimshan game (and I don't think she'd enjoy playing in an evil game much anyway), I've decided to simply start something entirely new.
I'm looking for 3 additional players. I would prefer people who are articulate and experienced who are also able to post semi-regularly (at least once a day on weekdays, but 3+ times would be awesome). If anyone from my evil game is willing to take up additional PbP baggage, I would certainly welcome you here.
The game will be set in Forgotten Realms again (since my knowledge of the setting is significantly better than my knowledge of others) and I believe I will be kicking things off in the nation of Cormyr: the city of Suzail to be precise.
I expect this campaign to be less urban than my evil game, but there will certainly be a fair deal of urban involvement to be found over the course of the campaign. I also expect there to be plenty of traveling and exploration involved later on, so a ranger-type would probably be highly useful (but not strictly necessary for survival). This game will also start at level 4 with 32 point-buy character builds and a free starting feat awarded by me based on character background. For character creation guidelines, I'll use the same restrictions as I did for my other campaign. You can find those guidelines here.
To those of you concerned about me playing favorites since my wife will be invovled: I smashed her last character in my game to death with a 2-ton iron construct. I think favoritism will be the least of your worries. >:)

Since the PbP I was playing in only lasted a couple of weeks, I might be interested. Though it was created at first level, I would be very interested in playing the human warlock I was using in that game, Telvar Quartermain if that would fit in at all. He was on the path to Eldritch Theurge and focuses almost entirely on gaining knowledge.
1. Though I have played PnP for 25 years I am somewhat new to PbP (though I am currently running one). If you want a more experienced PbP player I understand. What do you think?
2. Would that work/fit in or should I create a different character?
3. Do you allow skill tricks from complete adventurer?
4. Would the eldritch theurge (think mystic theurge but with warlock instead of Sorceror) fit in?
5. If the above character wouldn't work, what would fit in best? I am confident in my ability to play nearly anything so I can be flexible if others have preferences.
Thanks for the help. I have read some of your campaign thread and think you do a very nice job.

You have shown yourself to be an intelligent and creative person. I think you'll do just fine. For what it's worth, my wife has never played a PbP game before (as far as I know) and hasn't really been actively playing D&D in general for more than a couple of years.
2. Would that work/fit in or should I create a different character?
I would not have a problem with a warlock character but bear in mind the negative social stigma attached to being a warlock, especially in a nation as just and righteous as Cormyr. Cormyr is pretty basically Lawful Good with lots of knights and chivalry and all that jazz. A warlock would definitely be something of a pariah in such a society, even if you weren't actually evil.
3. Do you allow skill tricks from complete adventurer?
I wouldn't have a problem with skill tricks if you want to use them.
4. Would the eldritch theurge (think mystic theurge but with warlock instead of Sorceror) fit in?
It would work fine and would probably help alleviate some of the 'bad vibe' that warlocks generally give off if you went with a particularly good and righteous deity. That PrC is in the Complete Mage, yes? That is one of the books I own and will allow for this campaign.

So this would be a non-evil campaign? While I didn't like the direction your last PbP took I did think that you were a good DM. Count me in. Starting level 1? What books are allowed? Are you using point buy? I can usually post at least three times a day, sometimes more. Would a non-core race be allowed? Would you allow a gnome with non-standard ability adjustments (+2 Int -2 Wis)? Would racial adnavment levels (such as those found in Libris Mortis) be allowed?

If you'll read my initial post and follow the accompanying link, you'll find my character creation guidelines. Non-core races, alternate gnomes, and anything from the Libris Mortis would not be permitted.
Also, and please don't take offense to this, I would prefer detailed and involved posting in this campaign, much like my current PbP. The PbP posts I've seen from you in my previous campaign and others seem to be very short. I would hope for a greater level of detail for this campaign, more like a cooperative writing project than a 'game,' really. If you are willing to increase your level of detail and involvement, I would not be opposed to having you in the game, Arctaris. You seem to be an intelligent person and I think you would bring something unique to the game. Please let me know what you come up with if you are still interested.
And, of course, the entirety of this game hinges on whether or not my wife actually gets around to showing up here like I told her to.....

I understand, I am still trying to perfect my roleplaying skills and would be happy to make an effort to improve them further. As for a character concept I'm thinking of a Gnome Illusionist. I'll get back to you with a final concept. I understand completly if you don't want me in this campaign due to my lesser roleplaying experience.

This is absolutely the truth- he killed the living daylights outta me.
Fate, would you like me to play the Ranger? I can get my nature on, if you'd like.

If you'd like to play a ranger, that would be fine. I can work with you on putting the character together when I get home tonight if you'd like.
Bear in mind though, since the game is starting at level 4, your ranger will have the thing you hate most: SPELLS!
This can be circumvented by playing a 'non-magic' ranger variant from the Complete Warrior. I'll show you the details when I get home (unless you WANT to try your hand at using magic again?). We could also look at having you play a Scout from the Complete Adventurer. It is basically like a wilderness rogue (as opposed to the ranger, which is like a wilderness fighter).

Tell you what, Arc, I'll keep you on as a contingency. If I don't get all the slots filled by next Friday, you're in.

Thanks Fatespinner. I look forward to the game.
I'll look at the Telvar in the morning and see if the background I did before makes sense or if I should just come up with a new character altogether.
I tend to prefer intelligent/charismatic types, but enjoy playing nearly anything really. Any ideas for what would work well in particular if I don't go with Telvar?
As a note, the aforementioned Eldritch Theurge would be Warlock/Wizard prior to the PrC, not Warlock/Cleric as I think you may have assumed. He likes knowledge. He likes power. He thinks one leads to the other. Hmmm...maybe not necessarily a match for this game. He certainly isn't evil, but he is definitely in the neutral range.
Anyway, I'll get more into it in the morning.

Fatespinner, I would be interested in playing in this campaign if you still have available space. I have no PbP experience per say, but have been playing (and DMing) since 1st edition. I am fond of the Realms and while I'm running a Greyhawk campaign now, I would love to play in the Realms. For a character, I'd like to try a beguiler, dragon shaman or druid depending on what is needed. Thanks!

Yeah, I had gotten the Eldritch Theurge and Eldritch Disciple mixed up. While I don't have a big problem with neutral-aligned characters, it sounds like the motivations behind your particular character might lead to conflict with the "Big Picture." I don't mind if you do an Eldritch Theurge, but try to rework the concept to something a bit more altruistic (or, at the very least, less selfish).
In general, I would like to keep the alignment of the game mostly good. I need SOMETHING to redeem my soul in the face of my Calimshan game. ;)

Very well, Nerak, take a look at the other campaign I'm currently running (the thread entitled "Fade to Black - Evil in the Forgotten Realms") and see if my style of DMing is something that you find enjoyable. That thread will also give you an idea of the post organization I intend to keep for this game. I'm interested in keeping up the same level of detail and involvement in this campaign as I have with my previous one. Let me know if you don't believe you are up to the task.
Also, check out the character creation guidelines I posted a link to in my first post of this thread. That should give you all the info you need to get your character set up for this campaign.
Bear in mind that, since I'm only allowing four players for this game, party space is at a premium. While I in no way suggest that you MUST have the iconic party (fighter, rogue, wizard, cleric), staying as close as possible to that organization would be wise. Pickwick is going to be playing either a ranger or scout, which pretty much fills the 'rogue' slot (or fighter slot, alternately).
So, the party is now complete: Pickwick, Andante, Shamgar, and Nerak. I'll start up a thread in the Play-by-Post Discussion area to discuss character concepts and such things. Welcome aboard!
Also, Arctaris, I will keep you on as first back-up. If, for whatever reason, someone ends up dropping out, I'll let you step in. Thanks!

Alrighty, considering I've never done this before (and no, I don't think writing.com counts, although it is indeed similar at times), do you have any recommendatations for a character I can play? As far as I can remember without referring back to the previous posts, you have folks leaning toward wizard and a ranger, right? I would like to play some manner of magic user, but am not overly concerned with what. Perhaps a cleric?
