Ok, how do you pronounce Paizo? And where did the name come from? What significance?
I have called it Pie-zo...
what is the real way of pronouncing it?
Thank you and have a nice a day.
You're correct! It sounds like "pie" plus the name "Zoe," and it's Greek for "I play."
Paizo is pronounced "pie-zo", rhymes with "pie dough."
The rest of your questions are answered here!
It rhymes with how, cow, or pow.
Wait...are we not talking about the dark elves that live underground?
Never mind.
It rhymes with "pie dough," but it's spelled "rouge."

.
You guys might pronounce it "Pie-zo" but we native Greeks pronounce the word "Peh-zo" meaning 'I Play'.
I have now opened the inevitable stream of "It's all Greek to me." responses.
As an aside, how do YOU pronounce "gyro?"
Heathansson wrote: As an aside, how do YOU pronounce "gyro?" Homer : "It's pronounced 'new-cue-lar'"... lol
Gyro... It's pronounced 'dj-eye-row'
Ultradan
(lol) I had a teacher that HATED the "new cew lur" pronunciation...
aaaah, good times.
Heathansson wrote: As an aside, how do YOU pronounce "gyro?" It is properly pronounced as "Yum-me", some dialects also use "Num-me-num" as a proper pronouciation. Glad to be of help.

FH Actually, I always thought it was "Gear-o". Am I way off?

It even has a little thing to play it and hear what it sounds like.
It's "jie-row" btw.
Edit: Damnit, the stupid website ruined my snarky answer by having multiple pronounciations. I pronounce it year-row if you're talking about the greek food. jie-row if I'm talking about that thing that makes Segways work.

FH Particularly when you get a double meat, with extra sauteed onions and feta. And sauteed peppers.
Mmm..."year-rows..."

Is a gyro the same as a doner kebab? Or have I just opened a can of Greco-Turkish rivalry on myself?
Wiki says they're very similar; lamb on pita bread...

I can't stand it either.

See? SEE? I was right all along! It IS pronounced 'peh-zo'!
I must seem incredibly stupid to you...I always pronounced it 'pay-zoe'.
Can I sue them illithids now?
James Sutter wrote: You're correct! It sounds like "pie" plus the name "Zoe," and it's Greek for "I play." Wait. I just noticed this post. The name Zoe is pronounced ZO ee, rhymes with Joey.
But yeah, now I'm just confusing thing unnecessarily. Shocking, I know. ;D
I pronounce it:
"ThankyouforcallingpaizopublishingthisiscosmohowmayIhelpyou?"
...but maybe that's just me.

The true Greek pronunciation no longer matters. Now that they've apparently mispronounced it Pie-zo all these years, we're stuck with it. ;)
At Gen Con could you serve up free slices of pie to forum regulars? Call your booth the Paizo Pie-zone. Everyone at the Con will stop by when they smell that Dutch apple. (No, I did not say Dutch oven, grow up)
I pronounce it Snoop dogg style: "piz-nizz-o."
