I hope that guy is using magic swords, or those suckers are going to be heavy! The blade looks to be four to six inches across close to the hilt, and not much less near the tip. A sword like that is going to be three, four, maybe even six times the weight of an average sword of that size. I don't know about you, but waving a 9 to 18 pound sword is a bit rediculous to me!

Just had to get that off my chest. I feel better now.

Heh. So...what did you think about Cloud's sword from FFVII

When it comes to RPG art, I prefer work that captures the flavor of the game rather than slavish realism. While there have been more "realistic" D&D artists, Wayne Reynolds is by far my favorite. His art is dynamic, and I feel it does the best job of capturing what the game is all about. It doesn't try to impose unnecessary realism on a fundamentally unrealistic game, but at the same time it's not too stylized or cartoonish. So, when I look at the fighter iconic, I don't think that the sword is unwieldy. I think, wow, that's a kick-arse broadsword.

There's only one thing that disappoints me about these wallpapers -- when I saw a new blog entry was up, I was hoping Paizo had unveiled the next round of iconics. The little bits of info on goblins and the like are great, but I'm willing to wait until Pathfinder is released to get that kind of content. If you want to keep me foaming at the mouth over the product, throw more art at me -- it's like the anticipation really cool movie posters can build. So bring on that human cleric and elf rogue! By the time Pathfinder is released, my players will have roled up characters based on their favorite iconic art.

It took me a few minutes to realize you meant Final Fantasy VII. I don't own a game console, so I don't play those games, nor do I have any real reference for them. I am assuming it is a large, cartoonish sword.

When we have the art, we'll show it off. At this point, there's just not a lot of art for Pathfinder in yet, but it should be coming in pretty soon...

I didn't mean to sound impatient, I'm glad for the sneak peaks we've had so far. I'm sorry to lose Dungeon, but thankful that the great content and high production values will carry over into Pathfinder. Make mine Paizo!
