Lament of the booted halfling

3.5/d20/OGL

So I just made a halfling wizard for my new PC, and I can't find any halfling minis wearing shoes. The sculpture world seems to be stuck in 2E where all the little guys have big hairy naked feet.

I'm thinking I'm going to buy a halfling and a gnome and swap their heads, but there's precious little gnome action to be found either. All the Gnomes have puffy sleeves and lutes and all the halflings have short swords.

Doesn't anyone else like small wizards?

I also enjoy pocket sized sorcerers!

They have +1 AC and fit comfortably in overhead storage!

Says he's a gnome, but file off those ears a bit and there's no reason he can't be a halfling.

Except for wearing shoes, which is a freaky thing for a halfling to do, but I assume your halfling is mad and deranged (thus a wizard).

That's so the mini I use for my current Gnome wizard. It's a great figure although a little tall.

Hey yeah, that guy is pretty cool. I don't dig his beard though. Time to get out the tools...

I thought the hairy feet thing was like, SO second edition. Doesn't Lidda wear boots in the PHB? And yes, he is a little strange...

I think reaper has a halfling wizard mini too, with a cat familiar IIRC, but yeah, I think all / most of the reaper halflings are bare-foot

Yeah man I've never played a halfling before and I was reading them the other day and thought you know, these guys are pretty cool. I could just duck between people's legs and throw vials of acid and spells at them. Taste the pain of a knee-high lightning bolt!

Cheers Mothy I think I found him, but he looks like a bespectacled nerd with a hat which not what I want either. I'm pretty particular about minis (used to play alot of warhammer so I'm big on painting and modelling). I reckon I have two choices.

1: Instead of a Wizard, be a Wu Jen. It's almost the same thing but I can use a Gnome or Halfling Monk mini (with the exotic weapons clipped off) and the bare feet can eb explained by a taboo. Plus a crotchety little oriental Halfling who chucks Fire Shurikens at people would be rad.

2: Use this guy and be a badass Halfling Warlock. Who cares that you don't wear shoes when you are infused with the very ESSENCE OF DARKNESS.

:D

That'd be the guy, yep, quite the nerd.

And that other guy is indeed quite the bad ass. Nothing cute and cuddly about THAT halfling!

I think it would be much easier to just get a halfling miniature and try to change his bare feet to some kind of boots (file them off a bit and fill them up a bit and you should be fine). Most gnome mini's are too tall to be halflings.

Anyway, I like the 2nd edition halflings more, so I wouldn't change a thing.

True ... Kahoolin, being an ex warhammer buff, you should be pretty knowledgable with model conversions ... a modelling knife, a file and a bit of green stuff should take care of the feet.

I can't believe I didn't think of that. Genius.
