Back Issue Availability

I understand that back issues of Dragon and Dungeon will be available "as long as they are available," but my question is, will the back issues be converted to PDF format once they are out of stock, as they have been? Or will they simply cease to be offered entirely?

There are a large number of back issues that I would like to pick up, so I hope that the former route will be taken, as opposed to the latter.

We're making PDFs as fast as we can. We even hired a new employee just for that task.

I'm glad to hear that. Will the PDF's be available indefinitely or will they cease being available at some point? And will all issues eventually be available as PDF's or is there some issues that will not be converted?

The funny thing is, I bet you could find volunteers (outside Paizo) to do that!

Yeah, but then they'd be OCR'd scans. We can do better than that. :-)

I don't recall offhand the rules as to which issues can be made into PDFs and which can't. I know that for pre-Paizo issues we have to arduously track down all the rightsholders and secure permission to do a PDF.

Once an issue is available as a PDF it should be available permanently.

That's excellent news.

BTW, you Paizo people rock. :)

That sounds excellent, I don't know about anyone else, but the only issues I need are the ones that are made for the 3.0 or 3.5 system.

A related question: once the license expires, will you continue to be able to sell back issues indefinitely, as long as they are in stock?

My only concern is that by the time September rolls around all the back issues will have been bought by collectors.

Back issues will continue to sell until they're gone.

First, Let me second (and third) what others have said ... Paizo is to be comended on how they are handling this whole transition. The communication, the customer service ... it all is more than first rate.

Regarding the choice of back issues, however, I am getting more and more concerned. While I am sure there are good reasons to not allow those of us who are choosing to get our remaining issue 'credit' in back issues to choose these issues now, I really am not sure I like this idea.

We are entitled to these back issues, but by NOT allowing us to choose them now, but allowing people to continue to BUY back issues now, there is a VERY good chance that issues we want will be sold out by the time we get our e-mailed list (or how ever it will be handled)

I really think it is only fair to let us choos our issues now if we want. Why make us wait?

At the very least, I think we should be getting a much better explanation of how this back issue credit will work (specific details regarding time line, exact issues we can choose from etc) and some very specific reasons why we are not allowed to choose now.

Come on Paizo, you have been so great on everything else ... don't penalize those of us that want the back issues. PLEASE!?!?!?!?

Our original plan was to make the back issue selection around August. We're working on making that happen sooner rather than later to address these type of concerns.

Very cool! I am torn between getting some back issues that i sorely am missing (basically Dungeons #114 to 123 minus a couple) and going for 3 issues of Parthfinder. Either way i go i will be a Pathfinder subscriber in the end.

AHHH! Can't make choices on 5 hours of sleep (18 hours ago!). Bedtime for the Psychotic One.
