I also joined the chat channel, but no one was on last night. I created a new character (didn't have any on virtue) named Atomic Bombardment for the server.... he's a rad/rad defender. Anyway, hopefully I'll see some of you online!

Do it! Do it! Do it! For $15 a month, it is well worth it. But if you get it, get the CoH Good v. Evil pack because it has both City of Heroes and City of Villians and you do not have to buy them seperate like I did! ~runs and hides before she turns me into a burrito~

What is going on with your Comp, Mr. Shiney? Maybe we can diagnose it from here.

Basically (note: I have little or no technical knowledge), my satellite internet link is causing between 98% and 99% data packet loss. Just for the record, I have no idea what that means.
I tried to contact the satellite people, but apparently they have no e-mail address. If that isn't irony, I don't know what is.

Means somewhere between point A (your computer) and point B (where you're trying to go) is just about hosed. Problem could be a physical connection or a problem with your modem/hookup to the 'net/etc. For satellite, I'm pretty sure it relies upon being set up at a specific angle, so I would see if you could get a tech to come out and look at it.

Who is your Internet provider, Mr. Shiny? Perhaps someone can get a phone number for you to call and get some much needed and deserved tech support? Also, are you in an area that might have cable or ADSL access to the net? Maybe it is time to change.

My ISP is WildBlue Satellite, off of a 'bounce station' in Crown Point, NY (about 30 miles away).
Also, I had tried to get DSL or cable in the area where I live, but since I live outside the city limits*, it would require the town to lay approximately ten miles of cable to reach my house.

I have WiFi, but the closest Starbucks(tm) is a 2-hour drive away...
...and I don't own a car.
I'll probably just walk to the local public library.

I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 (NVidia GeForce video/CreAtivE sound card).
Previously, CoH has worked fine, but for some reason, I'm losing data packets and can't connect.
CoH should work on any laptop with a decent internet connection. It's just the 'decent internet connection' part that's holding me back.

Yeah, Double XP weekend spurred me back into playing, although I've been starting up lots of new characters instead of focusing on my main. I'm kinda weird like that. ;D

So I kinda lost interest in my TA/A defender and stopped playing very often as a result. Last Monday, though, I started up an electricity blaster and instantly had fun. I just got her up to 10th level last night, and would have hit 11th except that one of the guys on our team had to un-exemplar so we could finish the mission and I didn't get any more XP after that.
But anyway, yeah, I've been on (Virtue, CoH) pretty regularly this whole week, so if you log on add me to your global friends list or sign on to the Paizo channel and let's chat! :)
