So my Shadowcaster is going to pick up a Needletooth as a familar. She is at a level whre it can talk to others of its kind. So what creatures does that include. It says use the stats for lizard, but it is a tiny dinosuar. So does it speak with reptiles, dinosuars or both? I'm inclined to say both. What do other people think?
dinos, reptiles include snakes and turtles etc too.
While not by any means unbalancing, its a bit odd.

I'd strictly say dinosaurs. There are enough dinosaurs in the campaign, so you really don't need to compensate with a larger list--otherwise it would make just as much sense to expand a cat familiar's list to include canines, neh? But if you insist on expanding the list, I'd go with birds over reptiles (all things considered).
