My group has just finished "There is No Honor" and has tentatively sided with Rowyn.
What did all of you do to emphasize that Rowyn took over Sasserine?
Killed off Lavinia? Killed off major NPCs? Have everyone on the street walk around with a Lotus Dragon badge?
My players are playing both sides of the fence, so I don't want Lavinia dead, but I also want the PCs to know that their actions have consequences both good and bad (and to help generate ideas on what to do once "Sea Wyvern's" Wake comes around...).
Thanks!

A well organized thieves guild need not be so overt as killing Lavinia or being seen all over town to be successful.
If the PC's side with Rowyn, have her send them on errands around town to collect protection money from honest merchants. Send them to city guard barracks to build trust with them (aka bribes and gifts) so that they are more disposed to turn a blind eye to LD activities. Have them sink ships of people who resist or oppose the growth of the Guild. Do recruitments in Shadowshore for new trainees. And so on.
Also, they will need to get LD tattoos to show their allegiance.

Start small and build up. I.e. bring a package to this guy, here's 500 gold. Get a package from that guy, here's 500 gold. Make this guard change his rounds and stop asking questions, here's a 1000 gold. This member of the Dawn Council won't bend, scuttle his ship for another 1000.
You can have her dole out the amount she promised the PCs in increments, based on their success in her expansion to conquer the city and put it under her heel. Finally once they're in good with her, she confides that she hasn't seen Vanthus for some time and thinks he might double cross her and wants them to investigate.

theres this one merchant who thinks he can provide for his own protection tsk tsk.. even hired some thugs, now go show him nothing protects from the lotus dragons :D
ie killing a adventuring team, and then err.. "reminding" (breaking a knee, maybe?) the merchant, along with wholesale looting, of course.

Actually, I was looking for more background actions, 'cause I'm sending my party through the "Bullywug Gambit" right away. They are hot to get onto Vanthus' trail and Rowyn is motivated to get the PCs out of her hair, at least for now.
When they get back, it should be obvious that something in Sasserine has changed for the worse.
