Savage Creature Questions???

Had a couple questions about the savage creature template, first off If creatures or characters that had high intelligent scores to begin with that suffer the -4 penalty still have a decent score can they rationalize or be strategic at all In their decisions? Second Do they last long In packs or groups or do they turn on each other after a while and just become cannibalistic? And last but not least If they can get along with their own kinds for extended periods, are they able to breed true with one another and make more of their kinds that way?

Judging by the first two pirates the PCs meet on the beach (the ones lying in ambush amoung the bodies) I would say they could still rationalize and communicate a little to one another....

Thanx I thought so as well but I keep noticing the word cannibal. But after reading through again, they are attracted to untainted flesh. the savage pirates were attacking and eating ones of their own race hence the term cannibal. Guess just wondering now If they would or even have the drive to mate and produce their own kind. I'm inclined to think no because I believe the drive Is too strong for their maddening hunger?

If a savage creature ends up with an Intelligence of at lest 3, it's certainly got enough smarts left to use tactics. At 1 or 2, it can probably still use pack-type tactics like you see wolves use.

They certainly aren't into mating; they're all about killing and eating. And after there's no tainted flesh to kill and eat, they'd quickly turn on each other. Savage creatures aren't really a sustainable type of life, which is why if you have a pearl go off in the wilderness (like in Kraken's Cove) it'll probably not spread far enough to cause much problems. The animals who turn savage aren't smart enough to do much more than be savage, and aren't going to wander far from where they transformed.

In a densely populated area, though, the stuff spreads as a disease, so it's a bit more dangerous.

Thanx James exactly what I was wondering about. I had a feeling they would just turn on each other with no non savage creatures to bother. And figured their savage drive would just dominate everything else. Just wanted an official word.
