Dhorlot + Dragon Shaman need advice

Shackled City Adventure Path

Liberty's Edge

Ok so I had to reboot SCAP from the beginning, which is good because now I can run Drakthar's Way and the Demonskar Ball.

This is my new party
Human Dragon Shaman who is descended from Dhorlot (Wyrmblooded) and reveres Black Dragons

Human Sorcerer (Shackleborn)

Human Favored Soul (of the religion replacing St. Cuthbert in my campaign setting)

Human Ranger/Scout (a player who is afraid to get into melee)

Anyway. I'm not familiar much with Dragons and have never really done anything with them. I'd like some roleplaying oppurtunity for when they run into Dhorlot with the Dragon Shaman but am not sure how a black dragon would react or what could occur.

Any advice would be awesome.

Hi Coridan. I'm not really familiar with Dragon Shamans, so I'm not sure how useful this advice will be ... but anyway.

Black Dragons are chaotic evil (IRC) so any interaction Dhorlot has with the party (even a descendant) will likely be coloured by that. He will probably assume himself to be superior to the party, more than capable of defeating them in combat, and will act accordingly to their intrusion on his lair.

BUT, he's also obsessed with creating half-dragon offspring, and will probably be extremely interested in finding one of his descendants (if he can recognise the dragon shaman as such, or if the party can parlay with the dragon for long enough to make this fact known - I would give them a chance at least). He may be willing to talk for a while, but in the end he will likely see the dragon shaman as either a potential rival (and attack) or a potential slave / servant to be dominated. In fact, he will probably see it as his right to command the dragon shaman given his (Dhorlots) alignment and the fact that he is his ancestor.

He will likely become COMPLETELY enraged if the dragon shaman chooses to side with his companions against him, and would likely focus attacks against him first, in order to either take him, or incapacitate him to torture later.

If the dragon shaman has any black dragon immunities etc (for example immune to acid - Im no sure), Dhorlot would probably suspect as much, and take that into account in any combat strategy.

All just in my opinion, but hope it helps.
