What year is this set?

Hi all, Starting the campaign in the new year, but got all the characters and backstory sorted already. The group arrived together but they are not a party as yet, so I have given them a couple of days each to do their own thing, which we are doing by email.

Anyway, I dont have much greyhawk material (i.e none), so I was trying to work out when it was set and the only thing I could find was it was around 594cy. We generated a calendar day randomly and was ready to go.

However, Dragon arrived this weekend with the journal of Lavinias parents, and that had dates in it, so I wanted to make sure I get it right. Does anyone know if it is listed anywhere how long it has been since that journal was written, how long since Lavinias parents were killed, and when the campaign should take place?

Replying to my own post - sad I know.

Anyway, was rereading the first scenario last night, and Vanthus' journal right at the end is very non-specific with its dates "2 days before the fire", etc.

Would be nice if I actually put the date in there, so was wondering what other people have done

well, i am running the scenario in the realms, so the conversion notes have the realms date in there. but i take it you're running in greyhawk, in which case i have no idea.

Living Greyhawk is set in the "present" so to speak -- 594 CY = 2004, 595 CY = 2005, 596 CY = 2006, etc. So I just set mine in 596 CY, and I picked a calendar date I felt appropriate. I think it was 6 Harvester, which is late summer. It just seemed like a good time to start. Now we are in the middle of our trip to the Isle of Dread and it is the dry season (winter), which means the weather is better for sailing, so I think it worked out okay :)
