How big is the beholder?

Shackled City Adventure Path

Pretty straight forward question. I seem to recall reading somewhere that it's eight feet in diameter, and sixteen in the last chapter. Is that right? Not that he needs to be big; the looks on the player's faces when I told them what had just appeared before them was worth the wait. They were so pleased with themselves for taking out Kazmojen that they were ready to rip into the reinforcements summoned by Prickles' howling. Then the beholder shows up and we ended the session with the players in various states of shock and disbelief (literally; my son thinks it's an illusion).

Lone Shark Games

Size Large, just like a normal beholder. Later on, it becomes Huge.

That has been my Best Priceless Moment in SCAP so far, describing the beholder and watching the looks of stunned disbelief on the players' faces!

Hmm; in the old rules they were 6 to 8 ft in diameter; I guess i will have to look it up; i more or less always made them as big as the hallway of a dungeon with little room to spare.

About 8' across seems right to me. His appearance after the defeat of Kazmojen was my favourtie moment of the campaign. The players could not believe I'd put a beholder up against a 2nd level party! However, they weren't willing to test how real it was. They still wonder why he rescued the oprhan. I also had him show up to collect Zenith Splintershield when the party got themselves wiped out by Dhorlot. The single survivor cowered out of sight as the beholder led Zenith away. They don't know what's going on but they are migthy suspicious of everyone except their patron and benefactor Orbius Vhalantru who has given them a house to live in and a servant (actually a doppelganger to keep an eye on them).
