Thats it we have to hide his stuff before he returns. Its a scary place AWED but you can fight it.

After getting a new place (finally - yes!), my hubby and I have been packing up our stuff for the last couple of nights. In the process, I've had several geekish revelations.

We have packed about 34 boxes. One is not books. We're not done packing our books yet.

I looked at my hubby and said, "You know, we're going to have to pack the RPG books eventually."

He looks at me and says, "Yeah we do. But leave the boxes open - don't seal them until the last minute."

The geeky part - we're totally cool with packing up everything else in the house, but damn, don't pack the RPG books until the last minute.

The RPG books and the computers will probably be the last things packed. :P

On a side note, I really need to get more bookshelves.

Lilith, are you sure you have enough books? You might need a few more.

I just said "good-bye" to Kurt Vonnegut on another thread....

Never have enough. I wish to fulfill the guild requirements for my Loremaster class. :P

While on vacation in Maine I encounter Iuz at gas station, he had a Black Hummer. He looked just like the picture from the 1st edition TOEE module.

I just saw that under the Off-Topic section, my post in the 5 word game was 5 minutes old and my post in the 7 word game was 7 minutes old. I spent a moment in nerd nirvana.
Seriosly, I need help.

When someone asks me what my favorite band/CD is, and I have to think of something to say other that "the soundrack to Okami (or other video game)", "Overclocked Remix", or "Nobuo Uematsu". So sad.

Doesn't everybody?

My fiance (while reading over my shoulder) read this and said "Now I have the urge to stat block myself!"

My response: "Go for it."

It depends on what you mean by cooler guys. I mean (sorry Dirk) I like Kirk better but when it comes to shiney gadgets he just doesnt have any. But i do like Kirk better. And this argument counts as my geek moment.

If by "help" you mean the "aid another" action, then yes. We do need help. Seriously, these freakin' kobolds are killing me. Have you SEEN my stats? Smalls, you're killing me.

I can help with that (pounds fists together).

If anyone didn't get that, you can read more in the 'Grimmbold Manor' thread.

For some reason, in airports these days, they refer to gate numbers in MILITARY CODE.

I was supposed to go to gate C60, and when I got there, they announced a gate change.

"Would all passengers at gate Charlie-Sixer-Oh please go to gate Charlie-Seven-Niner"

The very next thing that popped into my fron was:

"...or you'll be Foxtrot-Uniform-Charlie-Kilo-Echo-Delta."

Pitiful and sad.

You could have stopped at DnD.

Or "Whilst"--a clear sign of too much fantasy.

There is a councilor here at the Louis Armstrong rehabilitation center who looks like a Mezzoloth, I pointed this out to some people and they looked at me like I am from another planet. Sammich!!!

About a year ago. I'd been gaming only at home for years with only close friends. I'd forgotten it was geeky to play D&D, since none of my players fit that profile. Then I started the campaign that meets in the local game store. The first night I looked around the room, thinking to myself, "what a bunch of geeks!" Then I realized I was one of them...

My geek moments are often, but in our home, everytime one of our children do something worthy of a grounding, we make them roll a d20, for the length of the grounding. It's the only time I see someone pray for a fumble.

Sovereign Court

I had two in a row during my last class. I was teaching World Geography at a community college and we had reached New Zealand… the parliament building in Wellington looks almost exactly like a Dalek. Most of the class just looked at me like I was crazy when I brought this to their attention. Then later in the class someone brought up the fact that the “Answer” was 44… I got to be geek and professorial all at the same time by correcting it to 42… at that point, again, almost the entire class looked at the two of us like we were idiots. Sigh!

At least there's one kid in the class who knows where his towel is...

I just noticed that when I use Sting (my letter opener), I raise it in the air as invoking some power, and then open the letter.

I have them too often too recount the most recent, but my two biggest geek moments were:

1) I rarely get sick, but three years ago I was too sick to stand by myself without vomiting. I made two phone calls, I called out of work, then called my friends to help me out to the car so we could still play our scheduled D&D game.

2) In boot camp we were all ordered to read a map, when asked how I learned to read a map so well, my immediate response to the Drill Instructor was, "I play D&D, and if you can't find the dragon, you can't slay the dragon!" Man, did he give me some weird looks. ;)

LOL! Now that look on his face had to be priceless indeed :-)

Night before last a friend of mine (non-gamer, ex-cop, now lawyer) and his wife and grandson came over for a surprise visit. I showed off our new office, which features ALL of my huge and gargantuan D&D minis on a custom built shelf over our computer desk.

"Good thing you're already married, dude, because you'd scare off ANY eligible female with that display," my friend said.

"We call it our geek cavern," I replied. My wife just laughed.

My friend is not a total loss, however, for he is a huge SciFi fan and has all the Dune novels and prequels. There's a little geek in him too, he just wont' admit it.

Yeah, there's nothing like being in the middle of a grocery store and telling your child "Enough! If you can't control yourself you're getting a d20 when we get home!" Only to realize everyone in the check out line is staring at you oddly.

I went home for lunch today (because now home is closer to work than before) and had a turkey-fresh mozzarella sammich with my hubby, since it's his day off. Since our neighbors are also part of our gaming group, I spent half an hour with my hubby and my neighbor discussing the feasibility of Rifts robots and cyborgs and being able to cast magic within that system.

For half an hour. Then we went onto psionics, and discussing ARCHIE-3, and alien cybernetics and and and...

~grins~ I know that I will rarely play Rifts, but I have thought of buying it JUST for reading all the cool stuff in it!

There is a lot of COOL stuff in Rifts - I do so love the world setting. :)

Liberty's Edge

My last geek moment:

I went golfing a few days ago with some friends. I was wearing a shirt that said 'Careful, ladies- I'm Chaotic Neutral,' and I had to explain to a group of about six people what 'Chaotic Neutral' meant. Basically, I had to explain the ENTIRE 3.5 alignment system to a munch of people who had never played D&D before.

An expressive dance would've sufficed.

I golf too and the guy who introduced me to D&D 27 years ago also golfs with me occasionally and still plays and DMs actively. The other people we golf with no longer raise any eyebrows when we engage in "cryptic" conversations that have nothing to do with golf.

When I opened a new box of minis and I was stoked to find Strahd from Ravenloft. I had to tell a girl I've been hanging out with, she stared at me blankly, then just said thats cool and turned away. She obviously did not share my excitement. Boy did I feel like a Geek.

Where in the world did you find Strahd? I need one! I still have this great picture of him standing on a balcony, looking all evil and sexy. Geesh, I haven't heard that name in a long time, makes me feel old, not as old as you of course ;)

This weekend traipsing through the woods at my grandparents farm so I could get terrain shots to use for the game. Heck, we even pulled over on the drive home a couple of times for some different terrain photos. My family thinks I'm certifiable. (Not that that's anything new.)
Of course, the fact that my 3-year-old wants to be a Dungeon Master when he grows up is probably a pretty big sign of a high geekiness quotient at our house.

At my local gaming Kiosk. I think I got real lucky it was 1 of 8 in a random box set. The Strahds mini looks all evil and sexy as well. Paizo has a picture on there D&D mini singles page. Check it out, I think you can order Strahd as a single for $45 from Paizo. Oh, no you can't have mine.

P.S. I'll always be older, but every year you creep closer and closer in age."

Some 3 year olds want to be super heroes, some want to be firefighters, some want to be motorbikes (I mean be one not have one), yours wants to be a DM. What a great geeky moment.

I'm envious.

Liberty's Edge

…Today at the CQM (Close Quarters Marksman) range.

We carry our rifles on quick-release hooks attached to a shoulder paldron tether; we also wear ammunition pouches laced throughout the IBA (Improved Ballistic Armor), and we often make individual adjustments to gear position for maximum comfort and efficiency in bringing our arms to bear (ha, ha...ha).

One of my lieutenants says to me, “Sir, I think I need to move my first aid kit; I can’t square my sightpost when I rifle-level [aim, in layman terms].”

“No,” I replied. “It’s not gonna matter where you put the kit, your armor adds a -5 modifier to dexterity and you lose your favored class status to aim.”

“Yes, sir, but at least it’s a +10 to AC!”

He’s in my gaming group, but the other three who overheard us had no clue...

Sir Kaikillah wrote:

Yes, but sadly for me, it's only a couple of months that seperate us, two very looong, very important months in the age count.

When my daughter was only about four, she would walk around the house singing "D&D" to the tune of AC/DC's TNT.

I was pulled into the local fast food join, just kinda goin' "Hurry up, I'm hungry" until I noted the vehicle in front of me.

Dark tinted windows, glossy black paint job, shiny crome.

License plate? "VADER 1."

I work in logistics, whenever I label boxes for shipping and I get to write 7/9 on the box I just get the giggles.

Interesting I saw this thread and next to the topic it had when the last person posted so it ready "When was your last "woa I am a geek" moment 41 seconds ago" and that gave me a chuckle.
