The momeent I opened my Chrsistmas present and saw Star Wars episode I , II, DVDs, completing my collection. I laughed manically and declared "MY collection is complete, soon I shall control the galaxy! Moowaahaahaahaa!"

Every time I say, "This is not the Sir Kaikillah you looking for!"
"move along, move along."

When my cousin got this cute girls number at the beach and came back to me, shaking his fist as if rolling a die laughed,"A twenty on the die!" We both laughed about being dorks (Geeks, I perfer dork).

I was watching Boston Legal last night and Brad was asking Lori why all the women in the office want to sleep with Alan Shore when he (Brad) is a straight up guy and a war hero. I kept thinking "because you're Lawful Good with a CHA of about 14, and Alan is CG with a CHA of 18. No contest."

Oh, man. I had a crazy, life changing "Whoah, I'm a geek." moment today. I was at work at the Coney Island Freak Show and I was about to do my bit where I bite the head off a chicken and I just stared into the audience, sitting there with anticipation and disgust in their eyes and I thought,"My God. I have to write this up on the Paizo boards." Why must my career as a geek interfere with my personal preference for vegetarianism?! Oh, the humanity!

Liberty's Edge

I coulda swore that chicken was a vegetable.

James, you are the master now. I am the apprentice.

I always thought that was a sports joke. Y'know - "Jesus saves... but Messier scores on the putback".

There are plenty of variations. There is also "Jesus saves...and does not lose the document when Windows crashes".

My most geek moment is not pop culture related, it was writing a scientific essay of couple pages in response to another essay about the question "which came first, chicken or egg?" (Biologically speaking it is egg, but if we concentrate on hen's eggs, chicken).

The version I've heard most is "Jesus saves, all others are stunned for 1d4 rounds." Or, "Jesus saves, all others take full damage."

Liberty's Edge

My latest geek moment: correcting someone's spelling on the Paizo boards. DRIZZT HAS NO APOSTROPHE! DON'T YOU KNOW THE KING'S ENGLISH?
-and you reply, "Sure I do, and so's the queen."

1 person marked this as a favorite.

In the historical geek vein:

recently driving home from Virginia Beach over the Brunnel, I remarked to my fiancee, as I stared out the window of the car:

"Wow... I wonder how the battle of Hampton Roads must have looked from this bridge..."

She rolled her eyes and said:

"Um, I doubt this bridge was here during the revolutionary war."

D'oh!

I also came out as a gamer a few nights ago to my new colleagues at my job and felt very geeky doing so. I showed them my cell-phone wallpaper, which is a photo of the Huge Fire Elemental Mini battling the Huge Eldritch Giant on some of my handmade terrain and told them about my Monday night gaming sessions. They are very understanding, but when they ask "Are you the DM?" it kinda sounds like they are asking something weird and secretive, like "Are you the leader of the Satanic Cult?"

Liberty's Edge

Aww, man.
It's been overcast for a week here, but today it was sunny.
I got in the car to drive, and it was so bright it looked like somebody popped a nuke.
So I says to myself, "I need to take that daylight adaptation feat."

Liberty's Edge

Awww jeez... I just had a massive geek moment. I was in a Chinese restaurant, and all I could think about was Firefly. Then, later, I was walking down the street, and found myself humming the 'Fruity Oaty Bars' song from Serenity. That's when I realized just how deep I was into my geekdom. I then proceeded to yell "TWO BY TWO, HANDS OF BLUE!! THEY'RE COMING!!" into the chill night air.

I watch WAY too much Firefly.

A while back I told a friend i play D&D. He laughingly asked if I was the DM? I told him Yes. He then Laughed out loud, then asked me if I was joking? I told him no, I am the DM.

He looked at me with disbelief and puzzled. After some uncomfortable silence (more uncomfortable for him than me, I think), I laughed and joked about what a dork I am.

It was then I realized how dorky (geeky) D&D is, and being a DM makes you the dork leader, like uber dork.

I think he was more puzzled by the fact I was "admitting" to playing D&D and being DM, than anything else.

On the subject of "geekiness"

I took karate with this kid who went to college and helped build Google in a garage somewhere. You know, that Google thing you look stuff up on. He helped make it.
Now I work some job for peanuts and he doesn't have to work ever again unless he wants to or feels the urge somehow.

Man, I wished I was as big a "geek" as him.

Laid up in bed, sick, and the only thing I could think about was "Man, I need to prep for game. Where's my notes and Unapproachable East?" :P

Just a few minutes ago when I got up from the computer deciding it must be supper time by now. Looking at the clock & realizing, i've been reading posts on Paizo for 3 HOURS & it's now 11+pm on a 'dang-it-i-gotta-go-back-to-work-tomorrow' nite! Nite folks!

I actually pulled off the highway in Brady, Texas to watch in fascination as sand was quarried. I wanted to stay there all day. I must be a total dork: I know the geological period that my crinoid stem collection dates back to.

Sorry, off subject but I had to... EG, there's not a lot of other stuff to do in Brady, unless you play golf.

I know that feeling. Ouch. Feel for ya.

Man, Brady is a cultural Mecca compared to some of the spots I get sent to on business!

Sounds like you may have been thru the lovely hamelets of Paris & Italy or maybe even West. (mmmm, Czech Stop) Even though they all have thier quirks, I'll stick with my Austin culture... weird.

I even go to Colorado City, TX about twice a year! BTW, Czech Stop rocks! As does Oma's Haus in New Braunfels. But your Chuy's in Austin is too trendy and too popular for me... I'll stick with Cooper's BBQ in Llano. Sorry, non-Texans, for these raves.

Love Oma's Haus and Coopers is the ONLY place I'll eat pork chops! I don't like Chuy's either, I prefer Maudies or El Mercado. Oh, and you can't forget the nationally famous (thank you Food Network) Round Rock Donuts! And now, back to the discussion. :o)

hehe just realized that in the post of the D&D group banned from school that I had a Geek Moment, writing a reply.

* I was in a cake store, ordering a groom cake for my wedding on May 26. Under each of the faux display cakes, there were notations to match on a pricing chart, like DC 25, DC 28, and DC 30.

Me: "Wow, those are some high Craft checks."

* My fiance, during the production of a play she Assistant Directed: "I just noticed, the male lead looks like a blood elf."

today, when me and my friend were talking about our strategies for takeover of a local in game town. I said something to the effect of "I enjoy killing those people" and the guy in front of me in class turned around and said "if I didnt know you were talking about gaming I'd be really scared right now"

At work today trying to explain to a nursing student (I work on the help desk at a hospital) why certain information comes up when he uses "hot keys" on his keyboard. The easiest way was to tell him it works by "Elves, smoke & mirrors" & then expanded on the concept. (my computer 101 professor explained it to me that way 20 years ago & it just kinda stuck)

Hi I'm Spyder,

My last "whoa I'm a geek" moment happened just the other day while watching "Walking with Prehistoric Beasts", they described a creature that had hooves, was the size of a horse, but was a carnivore; I turned to my wife and said "hey that would make a cool mount".....

game on

Andrewsarkus would so make a cool mount I was actually working on the stats the other day. And right now I just had my "geek moment"

It sounds like something 'Those Wacky Forgotten Realms Guys' would convert and put into yet another useless supplement.

And by the way, it's spelled 'Andrewsarchus.'

While twisting stats for an upcoming quarterly report on grant outcomes. I thought how fun, it's like a puzzle.

While in the 7th and final interview for a new job last week when asked if I was creative, I actually heard myself saying to the CFO and President of the company that "Absolutely I'm creative. For example, when playing Dungeons and Dragons, I CREATE WORLDS." (D&D had come up in an earlier discussion and they gave some small recognition of it so this wasn't 100% out of the blue). Wonder why I didn't get that job? Maybe I should listen to that little voice in my head (screaming at me in disbelief) more often.
At least my wife and my gaming group thought it was hilarious.

and there we go with Mr. Shiny's last geek moment.

Just last night, while watching Justice League Season Two on DVD- the episode where they go into a past where Vandal Savage became the furher instead of Hitler. WHile they were speaking to the alternate universe Batman, I paused the screen just in time to point out alternate versions of Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordon, Tim Drake, and Jason Todd in one shot. GEEK.

I had a Forgotten Realms geek moment a restaurant with my wife, because the cabarnet sauvignon we were drinking was called Tempus Two. "How I appropriate," I thought, "It looks like blood and it's named for the Lord of Battles!"

I explained that to her. She stared blankly at me, then broke eye contact. Quickly.

A friend shared the "Top 11 signs that you know you are at a Geek Wedding" -->

11. Guests throw USB drives instead of rice.

10. Bride and groom's first dance as a married couple is to "White and Nerdy" by Weird Al.

9. Wedding rings are simple gold bands engraved in Elvish.

8. There are D&D Miniatures atop the cake.

7. Whoever catches the bouquet is the next to upgrade to Vista.

6. Groom comes down the aisle to the "Imperial March" from Star Wars.

5. Bride promises to raise the children on Macs instead of Windows.

4. Reception table centerpieces are crafted from Lego.

3. Bride uses Bluetooth headset for her "something blue."

2. Groomsmen dressed as Star Fleet officers.

1. Bride and groom answer "Next" instead of "I will" and "Finish" instead of "I do" during vows.

I thought that it was rather funny so I shared it with people at work and most people said that they only understood two or three of the references...

I will give $20 to whoever puts Heathy's werewolf mini on top of a wedding cake.

It's one of those things where you couldn't help but crack up thinking about his posts.

Awesome! I could use more of these!

I found ones made of Damascus Steel.

Want them! Just make sure it isn't the Gargantuan Blue/Colossal Red, 'cause then you'd have a squashed cake.

Moff Rimmer wrote:

This would be awesome too - Legos, along with Crayolas, should be required elements of childhood.

Of course, I'd like to see someone recreate the wedding dance scene (with the bottles) from Fiddler on the Roof for my wedding, but that's just me. :D

My wife painted the D&D miniatures for our cake topper -- it turned out very nice and we got a lot of compliments.

My brother had the Throne Room music from Star Wars episode IV as his recessional music. That was fun.

I just found out my Gargantuan Black dragon and my
Centaur War Hulk(no, not the cow centaur Sebastian) will be arriving in a few days on the same day my Sorceror on Black Dragon repaint, and did the stupidest damn dance you have ever seen.

A couple of days ago my 3 year old said to my wife and I, "When I grow up, I'm going to play Dungeons and Dragons. I'm going to be a dragon."
We explained that players rarely get to be dragons. He (apparently having heard and somewhat understood the term) said, "Then, I will be the Dungeon Master like Daddy."
Wow. Gamers rule.

Tell the kid about Rifts. You can be a dragon in that game.

Some phone company commercial came on last night, in which a bunch of..., um, geeks kidnap the phone company's well-coiffed spokesperson, who taunts them by asking which level dungeon master they are.

"Moron - DM's dont have levels", I barked at the TV - two seconds before the geeks tell him just that...

I did the same thing...lol, glad I am not the only one.

my last geek moment? for me, this must be my last non-geek moment and that was in December 1976......

in 1977, I jumped head first into a memory core dump and ever since I have been a COBOL Cowboy, a Fortran Freak, a PL/I Playboy, a Hewlett Packard 3000 Heirophant and similar things; I can out-Spock Spock and I am more Borg than the Borg (I eagerly embraced assimilation, there was no resistance); White is the color of my hat

I would have as well, I guess :-)

My last geek moment was recently when there was a demonstration (neonazis, of all things - but that is another topic) right before my house. There were several mounted police alongside the protesters, and they wore full riot gear - helmet, face protection, protective jacket, and overknee leg protectors. I commented to my fianceé that they reminded me of mounted knights.
Not geeky enough for you?
She commented that this would be a cool idea for a character in a present-day RPG, or even better, for shadowrun - with a cyberhorse...
