Shirren Operative Specialization

Advice

Hi Folks,

I'm in the process of creating a character for playing Starfinder Society games, and love the concept of a Shirren who subversively creates choices in other systems/organizations.

I could see Hacker and Ghost as being the best options for that concept, but being new to the setting, I'm not sure which would be a better fit from a culture/society perspective.

I'd love to hear insights on this. Thanks!

I went with ghost specialization, while going with the RP aspect of the thief specialization. We did a one-off before the AP started and I went with the hacker specialization. I declared that ultimately it wasn’t something I wanted to keep doing. He was very handy in ship combat, but I didn’t think that ship combat was fun at so I decided to not worry about being an ace at those skills. I can always invest skill points in them later. Also, the skill focus bones and the opera actor edge bonus are both insight bonuses. This means that by 7th level the operative is good at every skill and the selection of specialization is less import, except for being able to take 10 on certain skills and what your free talent at 5th level is.

Interesting.

I hadn't actually considered starship combat in the concept.

Any input from a background/fluff perspective?

Liberty's Edge

Mechanically, they do best as Detectives. From a Background/Fluff perspective I'd go with either Hacker, or actually Detective.

Ferreting out secrets and using them to leverage choices seems pretty cool, actually...
