So i am gonna be doing shackled city sometime soon and I was wondering if anyone else had come across the same errors I had involving the schackled city villain Embril Aloustinai. I apologize if this has already been asked and only hope someone can help me out or point me in the right direction.
So Embril aloustinai is the high priestess of the cathedral of wee jas. She performs all sorts of duties for the church oif wee jas. She recently has become on the cagewrights and is working towards their goals as well. However when the pcs confront her in chapter eleven, her stat block states she is a cleric of eryhtnul. the final adventure even states she is giving the pc she traps over to her god erythnul. How is it possible that a cleric of erythnul rose to seat of high priestess in the church of wee jas. Don't you think some wee jas people would have realized this. Or that embril would have not chosen wee jas.
I'm just woindering because if she is decieving the church of wee jas in order to gain power in the city, (clearly a cleric of wee jas is more widely accepted by townsfolk than a cleric of erythnul), then I want to play her that way. It just seems to me like an error in the book rather than a planned out deception.

One of the driving concepts that isn't very well described is that each and every one of the cagewrights is touched by the madness of Adimarchus. In Embril's case it twists her until she switches gods and eventually worships the god of slaughter. So it is a change. It is pretty well documented that a priest can switch from one patron to another.

Correct. Embril never really fights the PCs till the end of the adventure, at which point she's already abandoned the church of Wee Jas for Nerull (not Erythnul). Therefore, her stat block has her worshiping Nerull instead. Her change of faith happens at about the point the PCs are finishing off "Test of the Smoking Eye."
