Finally got issue 139 and tore the plastic off like a 3 year old on Christmas morning! Anyway, the map has dozens of numbers in each district but no information in the magazine as to what these buildings are. I picked up Dragon #348 with the hope that the Savage Tidings article would have a key to the map. Nope. So, my question is; Where's the key to the locations on the map?

It's on the "Savage Tide Player's Guide"
They are supposed to make this a free pdf
OK, Thanks. I told my players we'd be starting the STAP today but I guess I'll cancel until I get that players guide. Sigh. I want them to have the necessary skills and feats the PCs are supposed to have as residents of Sasserine.

Now that people are getting the issue, I'm going to try to see if we can get the PDF up online ASAP. In any case, the number codes on the map that consist of a letter and a number are the "important" locations in Sasserine, and they're detailed in issue #137's Backdrop. The locations keyed with only numbers are detailed in the Savage Tide Player's Guide, and those details consist of little more than a name for the location and an indication of what that locaiton is (shrine, shop, guildhall, inn, tavern, brothell, etc.). Exact details to these locations are left entirely to the DM to develop. If we do a $400 boxed set of Savage Tide in 2012, we might go in and detail all of those locations, but I'd suggest not waiting that long to run the campaign. :)

Thanks, James! My players are making characters this very moment and I assume that each adventure will detail the locations when the players need to go to them.
Absolutely; whenever the PCs visit a location that's important to the adventure, all the details you'll need will be there. It's when they get distracted by a location and go check it out there that the Player's Guide and the Backdrop come in handy. Or honetly, just pop online here and post a question about a location and I'm sure you'll get several cool possibilities for what's going on there right quick.

Here's an idea: When someone develops one of these numbered buildings for their home game (or any other building, for that matter), post notes on this message board in a thread for that purpose.

Correct; we'll be releasing the Savage Tide Player's Guide as a free PDF pretty soon here. We'll still sell the hard copies for five bucks too, for those who prefer to have physical product.
