Canonical GH Month / Day references

Savage Tide Adventure Path

I'm trying to put more work into preparing the play atmosphere for my STAP campaign, such as prerolling weeks worth of weather and what-not. I've realized, though, that I ought to try using otherworldly day/month references, espcially for the date sensative stuff like journal entries or letters. Can someone direct me to a resource that would define such things for Greyhawk?

Here you go with several options...

http://www.modeemi.cs.tut.fi/~fey/DD3/calendar_GH.html

http://www.fief.org/ShackledCity/Greyhawk_Calendar

I used to preroll weather too. Then I discovered the website wunderground.com. You can put in the name of any city, state or zip code you want and get the weather histroy for that area in calendar form.

For example, my current game is set in the Silver Marches of the Forgotten Realms - a cold place. So I found out the zip code for Glacier Mtn National Park in Montana and plugged that into the site and got all the weather for that location (temperature high and low, precipitation, type of precipitation and if it was very windy) for any point in history (I picked 2003). I print it out in montly calendar form and use it as my game calendar. You can basically do it for any D&D game, you just need to decide where on planet Earth the weather is most similiar to what you are looking for. And it is the most realistic possibility.

I don't know much about Savage Tide yet, but from what I do know, I might pick Lisbon portugal to set the weather for Sasserine. Here's the weather for Lisbon for September 2003:

You might need to poke around there, but you can get pretty much any city.

I know this is not exactly what you asked about, but when someone told me about this a few months ago I was pretty excited about it.

That looks like a really useful site, drsparnum. Thanks!

Good idea on doing weather. I've been rolling weather for my GH AoW campaign using tables in one of the old campaign gazetteers, but it's a pain, and not very realistic, because it doesn't usually take into account storm systems and cyclical patterns in the weather. I think I'd pick something Caribbean for Sasserine--maybe Cartagena, Colombia or San Juan, Puerto Rico. Maybe Jacksonville, Florida if you want something a little less tropical.

As for GH references, if you need a hardcopy GH calendar, there's one in Living Greyhawk Gazetteer. Greyhawk: The Adventure Begins (PDF available on this site) has more detail on the four holiday weeks and how they're celebrated in Greyhawk, and IIRC Canonfire has a calendar that has more info on a variety of holy days and celebrations that different churches follow.

I just got issue #139, but haven't had time to read it yet. Does it say what day and year it is on the Greyhawk calender? If not, what are other people doing who of keeping track of this sort of thing?

I believe the year is 594 CY (see the description on pg 50). Though I have not found anything more specific than that yet.

There is a listing of Greyhawk holy days in Dragon Annual 4, I believe... don't remember if that was the basis for the calendar that Peruhain is referencing, though.
