Epic Archomentals

Should I use the advancement rules in the Fiendish Codex For the archomentals, or the rules in the MOnster Manual. Just wondering, because it seems like these things should evolve more like demon princes.

use both methods if you have the time and see which one you prefer. Using the codex material probably makes the archomentals tougher if they are elementals, as the CR adjustment for elementals is +1 per 4 Hit Dice. Of course, I don't have that copy of Dragon yet, so I'm going off an assumption.

Nice avatar by the way ;)

It's closer to 2 HD per CR, at least for the 4 basic elementals in MM.

The Fiendish Codex wasn't released before BOZ and I turned in our final submission for the archomentals, so we weren't privvy to the advancement rules.

I think a modified form of those rules would work, though. Elementals normally gain more HD than outsiders per HD, so you might want to give the archomentals additional HD as well.

If you really want to amp 'em up, use the paragon template from the Epic-Level Handbook (also in the SRD). :)

The Archomental artist put images up for viewing at his DeviantArt site, in case anyone needs props.

Thanks! He doesn't appear to have the archomental pics up, but he does have the parelemental creatures and monoliths.

His artwork is amazing.

yeah, i'm surprised he hasn't posted his archos yet. :)

I'll try advancing them both ways.

Btw, since the writers are present in this thread, great article!

Been wanting updated stats for those guys ever since I heard of them.

no problem! i'm just glad we got the chance to work with them. :)
