A Suggestion for Dungeon Adventures

Dungeon Magazine General Discussion

Hello,

I have a suggestion for you to regarding the adventures you publish. Have you every considered selling the adventures indivdiually as electronic PDFs?

My thinking here is you already convert the magazine to PDF format after the paper stock is used up. So maybe it could break down a little further into individual downloadable adventures.

The upside for me the customer is I could pick and choose from hundreds (thousands?) of high quality adventures and pull them down for a reasonable price. I could select ones at the levels I need for my campaign. I could select ones published by my favorite writers.

For you, well it would be my hope you would make more money and enable your team and the module writers to keep bringing us tons of high quality adventures at a reasonable price.

I don't work for Paizo, but it is my understanding that by the terms of their license WotC has some control over what form they can sell adventures in. For instance I beleive they are only able to convert and offer .pdfs of magazines that have sold out. Said magazines must then be striped of anything like cartoons, ads, and some art that was not contracted for e-sale and then repaginated (as I doubt WotC wants their beloved game looking like it was done on the cheap) to the new format. Also some of the older magazine contracts don't take this into account and by the sounds of it some were a bit non-standard, and perhaps even missing, meaning more time in tracking down artists and writers and getting their okay to proceed. All that takes time, time I doubt they have considering the long work hours they already put in, which is why there is only a handfull of Dungeon .pdfs compared to the number that are sold out. I do like the idea of individual adventures, but I don't know if it is feasible in the near future or whether WotC would okay it in the first place as they seem to be branching out into the module business again.

Hope that helps,

Matt (GGG) has made several pacts with devils, I hear. He's not that clever on his own ;)

OK. Maybe he is.

See there's some confusion here. I only type for the big green lug. ::Looks around to make sure he's alone:: Being Colossal+ they just don't make keyboards his size. If he ever finds out about voice recognition I'm doomed....

So...is Matt an avatar of Nyarlathotep? It all makes sense now.

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age. ~HPL
