I've read both adventure paths in full. I am half way through running Shackled City, but have not yet run Age of Worms. To me the main difference is that Shackled City is more focused on one city and its surrounding areas. That has big pluses in that it allows a lot of depth for this small region as the players get to know many NPCs over time in several different situations. On the other hand, players that like to have their characters travel a lot may feel constrained unless you provide them with a side-trek. So far my players are for the most part loving Shackled City, though one of them sometimes expresses the wish to travel and do stuff unrelated to the main locale.
