HoHR Question


Age of Worms Adventure Path


I just finished giving the Hall of Harsh reflections a final read through (play it next week!) and something came out at me. I am not sure if my players would be to interested in going down the sewers and chasing the mind flayer (name escapes me...)

Did anyone else have this problem? I could see my players just saying, well we beat the dopplegangers, lets go see Eligos.

Just wondering if this happened in anyone elses campaigns and how to deal with it, (I guess I could just go on to the Champions Belt...)


The main reason to hunt down the illithid is that he's behind attempts on the PCs lives. So, if they opt not to go after him (and find out who hired him) just send more assassins after the PCs; not just dopplegangers, but maybe gangs of drow or other crazy underdark creatures.


And that's exactly what is about to happen with my players. They cleaned out the HOHR, but now are only interested in the Games. So the bad guys are going to come to them. Still not sure how to get the evidence linking Zyrxog (sp) to Raknian into their hands, though.


We finished this. But essentially there is a problem with HoHR as written and it is that Zyrxog attacks the PC's from within Sodden Hold. The players will usually assume that he was just a left over monster they never cleared out and think nothing of it.

On the other hand if you make Zyxrog attack them at the Inn later that night it is clear that they are being targeted.... I had him send drow into their rooms while they were asleep (reminded them to always post a gaurd hah). Also I added some clues with moss on their boots ect.

With a little change this became amazing....
