OK, more time now. They are reminiscent of the seals from the Goetia to be more exact.
As for the article in general, I loved it. Looking forward to the book. I *love* the idea of the vestiges, and they are very flavorful. The entire mechanic is most intriguing. To me it feels like a modular warlock: several abilities packed together in small bundles for convenience!
I worry though that various Binders will prove very similar. "We're going to the graveyard? Hold on while I bind Kas." They'll just slot the appropriate vestige for the job. The solution is to have enough of a selection of vestiges, and that the vestiges aren't built too narrowly in respect to their granted abilities.
Also, the "special requirements" are cool and will hopefully enhance role-playing and not straight-jacket it.

There is also part of me that likes the idea of having some spellcasting classes now that can be seen as "heretical" even in a high magic setting. I DM the Forgotten Realms, and I can see warlocks and binders being seen as having varying degrees of reputability even in cultures that are very magic oriented (Halruua, Thay, etc.)
