            Hi guys,
I am interested in getting a Lite license for Fantasy Grounds, however i am not really sure on how the games work??
Ie. How long they take to play?, do we play for a couple of hours per week?? Is it in real time, or is the game updatd when you logg on?
Any help and advice would be appriciated

It's no different than playing using pen and paper.
The sessions last as long as the group wants them to, and the group meets as often as they want.
Fantasy Grounds is just a virtual/shared tabletop. I'm not sure what you mean by "is it in real time, or is the game updated when you log on"
It's as "real time" as any DnD session.
Also, keep in mind, you'll need a DM, and other players :) If you get the Lite license, then you are only able to be a player, not a DM. So you'll have to find a group who is running AoW and join them. According to other posts I've seen on this forum and on the Fantasy Grounds forums, I believe there are several AoW campaigns running via Fantasy Grounds. One of them might have an opening.
Mine currently doesn't. We've got five active players and a well-rounded party.

I played through "The Forgotten Forge" adventure from the Eberron Campaign Setting on Fantasy Grounds, plus a few other side treks on the way to a certain site from the "Shadows of the Last War" adventure--but our game ended when most of the players and the DM were accepted to the Dungeons & Dragons Online alpha testing.
Fantasty Grounds is relatively stable, a fine representation of a tabletop in the virtual world, supported with some interesting alternate character sheets and the like... but seems a helluva lot of work for DMs as far as creating maps and uploading text and other content.
I'd recommend securing a place in a group before buying Fantasy Grounds, and if/when you do buy, if there is ANY remote chance that you'll ever DM (as your handle suggests, Shane) using it, go with the Full version rather than Lite. Last I knew, there's no way to upgrade from one to the other without purchasing the whole package again at greater cost.

Fantasy Grounds is not a game or even a game system... it is a virtual gaming table, a way for people to play a tabletop game over the internet. Primarily this is d20 Dungeons & Dragons type gaming. One person, the DM, hosts the game sessions on their Full license version, and players connect with either the Lite version or the Full version (Full is only needed if you plan to host).
My personal experience, being rather new to Fantasy Grounds, has been quite good. Very easy to input the maps, monsters and area descriptions, it only took me a few hours to get all of Whispering Cairn to the point where we could play our first game session.
We play a four hour game session once per week, and pacing wise we are still in the cairn, having explored the entry, lair of the laborers and figuring out the wailing mouth encounter took 4 sessions. We seem to be picking up the pace a bit too, as we get more familiar with both Fantasy Grounds and D&D 3.5.
I also agree that if you have a group of friends who play D&D already and want to play online this is a great tool to use. If you are without a group I suggest you find one before you buy, as the system is rather new and the community is still growing.
Hope that clears it up a bit. You can read our chat logs and summary stuff on my website at http://www.zackfamily.com, but beware it's full of spoilers for the Age of Worms.

fest, do you have any spaces going on the AOW campaign, for a player? I DM in real life but would like to play a game weekly.

At the moment, no room, sorry. We are running with four players and feel that is a good size for this adventure.
Funny thing, I am also looking for a game to play as a player weekly.

I'm looking into Fantasy Grounds - it seems very very exciting (and a great way to game with the fun folks on this board), so I may have something for people to play. :-D
I was also thinking about this program, just to cram in a little more D&D time but I don't wanna make the leap until I am sure of how good the software is.
