I don't know how you all feel, but I know when I am playing D&D or just writing or reading, I find that certain music makes we want to adventure and puts me in the mind set to have a good hack and slash session. I am not sure if I am saying this properly.
SO does anyone else have music that does this for you, I mean does it make you want to adventure or hack and slash or start a new character or anything.
Personally I find some of Enya and Enigma, and other really celtic music makes me want to adventure. even some of the alternative music makes me think of a hero facing down a horde of orcs all by himself to the bitter end, with only a great axe for company!
Ahhh, valor it gives me chills

I like to listen to Movie Soundtracks. I have tons of them and use them frequently either while playing or when preparing my game. Here's a few good ones to have while playing...
The Lord of the Rings (all three), Conan, Gladiator, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, 1492, The Last of the Mohicans, Interview with a Vampire, Alexander the Great, and even Mortal Combat.
When preparing, I use action-oriented Movie Themes which include many Star Wars soundtracks, Indiana Jones, Terminator, or any other that reminds me of fun.
I also use computer/console game themes I recorded from actual games like Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider, Diablo 2, and many more.
Try some new age CDs. Anything from Peter Buffet should really bring out the mystriousness of any temple (or ruins), and even make a simple treck between villages seem like a legendary expedition.
Have fun!
