Hello,
i am just runing Demonskar Legacy.
We had some fun.
Until now my Group succeded in missing all Hints to the Cagewrights.
I hoped they would get some Ideas when they found the Prototypyp
Soulcage by the Fire Giant in Vapraks Voice.
Ok thats the Plan.
After messing with the City Watch when Hell broke loose as
Alexis didnt appear to the Challenge.
They had to leave Cauldron fast but they saved Maavu.
The Group went to Redgorge and from there straight to Vapraks Voice.
The Druid scouted the Gate room as Bat.
They planned and attacked and after a great fight they took the Gate with loses.
The druid went into an infight with a Hill giant and got killed.
After that they went to the Dungeon and went straight to the Hags.
And here all went wrong.
One Paladin drunk the poisoned Elixir and went down.
The forgot the Warning about the false Sister from Nidrama.
The main Tank got dominated and attacked the helpless Paladin.
The group retreated in Chaos from the Chamber.
The Wizard took out the dominated Tank with Feeblemind and the Teleported out of the Dungeon.
Now they rested one Day raised the Druid and healed all Party members and next time we game they want to go back.
Now my Question ist what would you the Hags have done in the Time until the Group returns?
Will they stay or evacuate?
The Hill Giants and Guards in the Gate room are Down.
If they leave the Group will miss the Prototype Cage.
Any Advice or proposals?
Thanks

I will let others give a run down of what they think the hags would do, as I feel many on this board are better with that type of tactic than I.
As for missing clues to the cagewrights however, that I can help you with. I don't know what involvement there has been in your campaign, but presumably your group is on at least decent terms with one or more members of the Striders (or whatever your equivelant is, Harpers in my game). The Striders have been going along behind the party and researching what they find, looking for missed items sure, but more for information on who or what is behind anything going on in the area so they can help predict and prevent future issues. As a result they have begun to piece together the presence of something greater going on.
I would have a member of the Striders bring this information to the party when they return from Occipitus (conceivably they are still going in to save Alex Tercival). This will give them a good bullet point run down of the clues that they have missed and some indication that they might mean more. It will also put it in a format that will make them start looking for more.
If the party does turn and bail on Vaprak's Voice completely then I guess you have more of a dilema. You could have them return to be met by members of the Chisel who are begging them to save Alex. If that doesn't work then have them be someway periferally involved in the attack on Redgorge. Let the place get destroyed but the halls of the handcrafters not be found (so resistance can continue). Make it clear this could have been avoided if Alex was rescued (you and I know he has to die, but the PCs don't).
Anyway, those are my comments on it...

Hmm... since the hags readily defeated the adventurers, I would suggest that they merely replace the gate guards, perhaps with a Vrock or some other creatures at Nabthatoron's disposal. (Did all of the ettin's die? They'd make decent guards.)
Otherwise, that battle sounds hardly like a scare enough to drive them off.
I suppose if they returned and a massive battle ensues at the gate again, the Hags might wade out into it, to keep the adventurers from be able to heal and regroup before facing them again.

Thanks for the ideas.
The Party will absolute sure return to Vapraks voice.
First they want to settle their Account with the false Archons.
But the most important point is they have to save the missing Paladin.
In my campaign Alexis is a female and one of my players got to be her Novice Paladin and is courting her.
No chance that anything will stop him as long as he lives.
They still believe them to be real.....
My Wizards began resarch an inquiries about Archons...
There any proposals what Guards Nabathoron could lent to the Hags?
The Group is now
Solmyr Human Fighter 6 / 1 Cleric of Lathander / 2 Paladin of Lathander
Benji Stichgood Halfling 2 Level Rogue / 8 Level Paladin of Tyr ( Tyr replaces ST. Cuthbert ).
Caldana Sommerwind 7 Wizard / 3 WarWizard of Cormyr
Duran Eisenbeiser Dwarv 7 Fighter / 3 Defender
Gnome 9 Druid (Got killed by the Hill Giants )
Daja Moonblade 3 Fighter 4 Wizard 3 Eldritch knight
I intent to have the Hags to animate all Deads.
Thanks

look at the hardcover p. 172 in the Developement under Nabthatoron.
A Vrock is CR 9, MM p. 48
(according to the SCAP p 172, 2 dozen of 'em are around)
Some other demons require the Book of Vile Darkness.
The Group is now
Solmyr Human Fighter 6 / 1 Cleric of Lathander / 2 Paladin of Lathander
Benji Stichgood Halfling 2 Level Rogue / 8 Level Paladin of Tyr ( Tyr replaces ST. Cuthbert ).
Caldana Sommerwind 7 Wizard / 3 WarWizard of Cormyr
Duran Eisenbeiser Dwarv 7 Fighter / 3 Defender
Gnome 9 Druid (Got killed by the Hill Giants )
Daja Moonblade 3 Fighter 4 Wizard 3 Eldritch knight
so, ECL 10 (5) and ECL 9 (1), they can handle an EL 11 fairly well, which happens to be two Vrocks.
I intent to have the Hags to animate all Deads.
That will give some good fodder for them to wade through, but it all depends on the orders they give the undead (mindless and all).
