Looking for the name of a really old module

3.5/d20/OGL

I am looking for the name, author(s), and where I can buy a really old module. It may have come from Britan.

The last time I held it in my hands was about 1984. I barelly remember any details, so my apologies for being vauge, but this one shot adventures started with a smoking well, or circular stone opening, on the top of a hill. At the bottom (or in the well) was a room and a stone altar in the center. Trapped in the room was a 2E type III deamon. Under the altar was to found either a sword of sharpness, or a vorpol sword (I don't remember which).

Does this ring a bell with anyone??

Can you describe the cover? Even the color could be helpful. This isn't ringing a bell yet, but I have read most of the D&D adventures out there.

It was mostly white pages and black line drawings, the cover had some color, but it was done in blue and grays.

Sounds like one of the adventures from the Judges Guild "Book of Treasure Maps." The cover to that one was a photo of some gamers in costume out in the woods. Does that sound like what you're thinking of?

Have you tried to do a google image search with the term "Judges Guild?" I just did that and came up with a ton of module cover images that may include the one you're looking for.

It could be the Gauntlet , the second module of a two part series from Tsr's UK line. the demon was a vrock. the cover had a fire giant. Hope this helps.

I'm the king of old modules (I have an extensive collection) and, gosh, your description does not ring a bell for me as well. Sorry.

try searching http://home.flash.net/~brenfrow/index.htm and see if something looks familiar. This works only if it was a "official" XD&D Module, not something by any other publisher. Otherwise try the acaeum: http://www.acaeum.com/ or this list: http://www.stud.uni-hamburg.de/users/afterglo/rpg/nontsr.html

The other module was the giant's prize but i am really not sure. It introduced the Skulks.

I think it might be The Sentinel. I remember it vaguely from a friend's collection.

This site has a section to purchase old modules as downloads. It shows the covers along with brief descriptions. You might recognize it by searching through them.

Thats it! the sentinel. though which of the two modules had the one with the fire giant laying siege to the keep to get his daughter back i don't know. sorry i was not much help.

The Gauntlet and Sentinel (Graeme Morris I believe) are awesome modules. I still have both of my copies from the 80's and ran the adventures several times with great success.

Adlerweg Castle has a great map....I think you can download the PDF's for both these modules.

Thanks! I'll try all of these suggestions.

sigh... if I can't find it, then I'll just have to re-write it myself :)
