Funny, this came up last night at my game. One of my players had rediscovered his Dragon CD-rom and was trying to convince me that it would be worth the 30-40 hour (I think more) commitment to get every issue of Dungeon scanned into .pdf format. As much as I'd love to "vacuum-seal" the whole collection, I'm nervous with the thoughts of having so many scenarios at the player-pool's disposal.
I would think that Paizo would be better served to have the back catalogue of Dungeon scenarios available on a per scenario basis. Invest the time and $$$ to get everything into .pdf and extract the "Adventure Overview" so customers can pick and choose what they want based on elements they typed into the search engine (mid-level, forest, Forgotten Realms, 2E). Charge a reasonable fee to keep the casual snooper in check.
As I recall from previous posts, .pdfs cannot be created "legally" until every physical copy of an issue is sold/destroyed from the "back-issue" pile.
So it's all a pipe-dream until Paizo sells out back issues or we have a magazine burning party.
