well, i began my group in the whispiring cairn tonight, and shortly after, had my first death.
of course, the first place they go is the blue lantern. and of course, the rogue sets off the trap, and gets blown off the edge (failing two reflex saves in the process).
the funny part is that the druid decided to try and catch her (while he was standing at the bottom of the shaft- smart druid, that one). he took nearly lethal damage from her falling on top of him (failed his reflex save). though, i'll be nice - she rolled really poorly on her will saves, spot checks, search checks, and reflex checks in that entire area. sometimes these things happen...
the funny thing is, i was expecting the slasher and beetles to be a bit more difficult, but the party dealt with them quite quickly and without going negative on hit points at all.

The party that I'm running through AoW saw every clue to the wind trap, the party's rogue even detected the pressure plate for the trap, but couldn't disable it. So they decided to press on and see what would happen. As soon as the wind started notching up, they figured that a retreat was in their best interest, and making every save going back through the passage and reflex checks for grabbing the chain, not a one of them took a tumble.

so, the rogue in question fails the spot check (the only clue she missed), and keeps moving forward. the spot check was just her first bad roll.
then she fails to detect the pressure plates. ouch.
then she fails her will save.
I give her a second will save, on round 2, to break free of the entrancing lights. she actually passes it - and then fails the fortitude save against the wind!
she blows off the edge, and rolls a natural 1 on her reflex save - so she's falling...
and then, fails the tumble check trying to cut 10 feet off the fall damage.
it was fricken painful!
