Hi guys,
I mailed in an artcile for Critical Threat 2 weeks ago and still no reply. In your experience - just how long does it take for the editors to get back to you (for crtical threat articles I mean)? Has anyone had their article published?
Vishnu.
Critical Threats get reviewed by Jeremy Walker in a process not unlike that for Campaign Workbooks. I don't think he's ever explicitly rejected one that I've submitted... but then he hasn't explicitly rejected any of my Campaign Workbooks either. 2 weeks is NOT a long time to wait... I'm still waiting to hear on a Critical Threat I submitted in January. My accepted Campaign Workbook articles were submitted in February and accepted in late June.
My advice... keep writing, keep submitting, and don't expect to hear quickly.

Two weeks? I'd be very surprised if anyone's even had a chance to read it yet. I'd suggest you wait a few months before getting antsy. Then send an email asking for a status update (and another, and another... :)).
It takes time, sometimes a lot of time for an article to get into print. To put it in perspective I first submitted "Glimmerpane" (the CT in the current issue) back in March '03. Thirty months later, as if by magic... :)

Thanks Hal - this makes me feel much better about my Critical Threat submissions from Jan and Feb of this year...

So since we're talking about critical threats...
For non-canonical classes and PRCs, do all abilities not covered by canon classes and PRCs need to be detailed? I had assumed so, but (now I don't have them in front of me at the moment) 2 of the last 3 published contained non-canononical portions (duelist and dragonslayer(?)) and I don't think that their abilities from those classes were detailed. Can someone clarify for me? Apologies if I just missed them.
Thanks.

Duelist is in the DMG, so that one didn't need to be outlined. And I'm pretty sure the abilities of the Dragonslayer that the Critical Threat had were indeed outlined in the article. I'd have to check to be sure, though.
ROFL...
Sorry, I totally forgot that Duelist was put into the new DMG.
-AND-
As I am now looking at the articles, the Dragonstalker DOES indeed have the pertinent extra abilities listed.
I better get my sleep tonight!
Thanks for the info. :)

I just submitted my first critical threat this week, and I'm working on another. Using stuff outside of core is a tough balance to strike. On one hand, you can develop lots of interesting ideas with prestige classes, feats, and so on from other books. But doing so eats up your word count, as you have to find the space to explain the abilities.

I'm preparing my first submission and I'm noticing that very thing. I think I was hoping that that material didn't need to be included and got all excited. :)
