AoW travel distances

Age of Worms Adventure Path

Sorry if this has been asked before, but is there a description listing the distances (in miles or km) between:

Diamond Lake and the Whispering Cairn
= "within a day's travel?"

Diamond Lake and Alastor Land's old homestead
= "ten minutes away?"

Whispering Cairn and the abandoned mine office
= "ten minutes apart?"

I'm more interested in actual mileage, if it's been posted or discussed somewhere, since my players are extremely anal retentive when it comes to travel distances. Thanks!

You messed up the second part, it should read "1 hour" between DL & Land office.

This thread has my interpretation of the distances:
>>Distances<<

Oi, now I'm confused. There's no "Land office", so I'm not sure what you meant. The abandoned mine office (Dragon #333) was owned by an Ulgo Fant (same issue), not the Land family. And in issue 124 of Dragon, for distances, it says:

Diamond Lake and the Whispering Cairn
= "within a day's ride" (p. 16)

Diamond Lake and Alastor Land's old homestead
= Land farmstead is "ten minutes east" of D. Lake (p.33)

Whispering Cairn and the abandoned mine office
= WC is "ten minutes east" of the Fant office (p.19)

Isn't that right? Also, it says that the Observatory is "five minutes north" of D. Lake, and it's on the D. Lake map... so I'm thinking that some of these travel times are "on foot"... except for the DL-to-Cairn route which is clearly noted as "ride"... do I have this right?

If these are referring to travel times on foot, what might they be in miles or km? Is this conversion in the DMG or PH?

OH sorry, you meant the Land Farmstead. OK. Anyway, I have my interpretation of all the distances you talked about in the other thread, based on what I picked out of the text.

In my own campaign notes, I have travel distances converted for every numbered location in Diamond Lake, and all of the surrounding encounters too. For example, the lake is about 3000' wide (standard keelboat travel = 30 min), or a 4700' walk to the far side (trackless hills / normal human walking = 30 min).

I think I'm in agreement with most of what you said on the other thread, but it seems like Fant's office (the abandoned mine office, the PC's possible "base" that's 10 min from the Cairn) should be a lot further away than 1 hour from Diamond Lake... unless this might be officially stated somewhere?

I think the distance between DL & the WC was something that slipped by the editors. If you read the campaign journals of Erik's players, you'll see that the Fant house seems to be only a few hours walk from DL.

IMC, I'm making it about a day's walk from DL, which is still technically less than a day's ride.

Ah, that makes sense! And I'm embarassed to say that it never even remotely occurred to me, even though I read James' campaign journal. :-)
