I will try to make this encounter a memorable one! Including my party´s PC´s, there are 51 creatures involved in it!
I am going to expand the useful poster map with Dundjinni
(just supplementing what´s already there: slopes, the dirt road, a few rocks and bushes and some more wooden stakes,
then placing the poster map in the center) to give my players more space to move and more tactical options.
My question is: Do You have some advice concerning the execution of the battle? I´m not convinced of the plan described in "The Battle" page 22-24 DungeonMag.
Is there a better way to run the whole fight with standard or simplified rules for D&D 3.5? Is it a good idea to mix the standard rules with the skirmish rules from Miniatures Handbook? (I could use it, together with enough minis to run the fight, but I lack the experience with the skirmish system.)
Is "Hero´s of Battle" recommendable? It seems to rely mainly on GameMaster-Decisions, lacking clear mass combat rules?
Are there other mass-combat or skirmish rules for D&D 3.5 out there, what about Green Ronins Mass Combat rules from "Advanced
Player´s Manual"?
Last but not least, advice from DM´s who already run and finished this encounter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You and Happy Gaming
