Resting in Three Faces of Evil

Age of Worms Adventure Path

How did you handle this? Did your party rest at all? Where, when and how?

They killed everything in the temple of Hextor, spiked the doors and kept a watch. It doesn't seem that the grimlocks or the kenku get out much.
Then they killed the grimlocks, and slept in the large cave that had the barracks, the champion, and Gralluk's chamber off of it. They blocked the door with rocks and dead Grimlocks.
The adventure is way too hard to go through without rest and going back up is ridiculous. I just let them have their rest because I know that each of the temples are challanging by themselves.

Sovereign Court

my pc's figured out the door lock on the throne in area 11 of the hextor temple.

It looks like barricading yourself in the Hexor temple is popular. One of my groups did just that, and the other group is about to need to rest. I figure that if you need to rest, you'll clear out one temple and then hole up for the night.

The Temple of Hextor makes a great place to level up to level 4.

Hey Snorter - I notice you've been on a few of these ancient threads of AOW and ressurrected them....

Did I succeed in my "sense motive" check that you're just beginning the AOW AP? I just started running a few weeks ago (two games done - but still in chapter 1); having just finished a 22 month Shackled City AP last month.

If my guess is right - it may be mutually beneficial for us to stay in touch as we can compare notes/ideas etc.

Hey Robert,

I'm also about to start this campaign and would love any other ideas/suggestions you (or others) may have.

If you want to e-mail me, renau1g at google's e-mail service.

Thanks,
Ryan

I've been running it since early August, and I'm 2/3 through chapter 2.

Don't worry if chapter 1 takes a while; it's longer than normal, especially if you add in the info from the Diamond Lake backdrop and the AOW Overload (you have downloaded that from this site, right?).
That is full of good ideas for PC backgrounds and side-plots.
My players didn't even think of going to the cairn till the second session, having spent the first meeting Khellek & Co, then following them round town.

Shackled City took us 30 months, though I was a player, not DM.
With mostly the same group I wouldn't be surprised to take the same time over AOW. We have learned some time-saving tricks, but we are too easily distracted by humourous chatter.

Check out the journal being kept by one of my players: Fayne's journal.

I'm happy to swap tips with you and Ryan or anyone else running this AP; there's a few of us out there (Mothman and Kayos on the play by posts). Just send me an email to the address in my main profile (robert dot feather at blueyonder dot co dot uk). You may see me post under this alias sometimes, to warn my players to keep out of the spoiler threads.

Hey Ryan - I sent you an email several days ago - I either did not receive one back or it somehow wound up in spam/trash folder - which does happen occasionally.

You can try sending me something to
