I have a question for all of you writers who have had Class Acts articles submitted: I have an idea for a rogue Class Acts, but I don't know if it would fit the bill. It would basically be talking about how a DM can adjunctate a rouge getting caught doing "rougish" deeds. Now, I know that this dosen't exactly fit the normal Class Acts article about how to better play the class, but I think it does have some relevance, and would at least give a little variety. Any thoughts?

By "advice" columns it means tips on how to play or build your character - examples would include "First level spells every cleric should memorize" "Getting the most out of your animal companion" or "How to multiclass a fighter." Anything that makes suggestions on utilizing existing rules, basically.
As for your idea, it sounds interesting. Not sure if it's what Mike wants, but it can't hurt to pitch it!

I lent my last ten DRAGONs to a friend, so I won't be able to give the exact issue I'm referring to, but...
Just read the Submisson Guidelines. It says no advice colums will be accepted. Could anyone give me some clairification on the specifics of that?

This restriction may have been relaxed. A short while back there _was_ a Class Act that was all about which spells a low-level cleric could not live without. I believe one of the staff writers did it, though I'm not sure. At any rate, you might want to check with the editorial staff and see if advice columns are still a "no go."

To the best of my knowledge, the "no more advice articles" limitation was imposed after the cleric spell article - that was just the first example that sprang to mind. I wouldn't pitch any advice articles if the guidelines still say not to, but I agree it wouldn't hurt to put a line in your query asking if they are still on the black list.

I think that article was made by a guy from WoTC, Jesse Decker. That would explain the circumvention of the limitation.

Thanks for all the good information. That's one thing I love about this community, there are always people willing to help you find what you're looking for.
Well, I'm in Washington for a three week vacation. On the flight out here from England I managed to basically write the substitution level article.... I'll be working at the Air Force recruiting office in Tukwila starting next Tuesday, so if someone were to drop a car or truck off to be washed I think I could manage it and only leave a little bit of paper in the seat.

Just a guess but presumably they would be traits (as outlined in "Unearthed Arcana") tied to a specific class. Since no one has given them the same treatment as flaws and I don't have UA in front of my memory could be wrong but I think they're the "you get +1 on this but -1 on that" abilities. I think one of them for instance is called "Bully" (bonus on Intimidate, penalty on Diplomacy or something like that).
Actually doing up articles like "Traits for Rogues" is a splendid notion. Can't believe it never occured to me...
