For my money, Dungeon is the better buy.
Dungeon has 3 adventures every issue, and there is no doubt that you'll be able to use at least some of them. If you choose to use the new Age of Worms Adventure Path (you'll have to pick up a couple of back issues), you'll have plenty of time to get your "Sea legs", - basically become a seasoned DM.
Dragon has a lot of stuff, but most of it isn't directly useable by the DM. It is generally better for players.
So, my recommendation is Dungeon if you have to choose one, and you're the DM.

Adam,
Dungeon is totally the way to go for an aspiring DM. Not only do you have 3 (and sometimes 4) solid adventures every issue, you also have Campaign Workbook and Dungeoncraft articles near the back with all kinds of helpful tips on running a successful game and neat things to add to it. Now if you could convince one of your players to subscribe to Dragon at the same time, you'd be set!

Actually, the breakdown of Dungeon is for DMs and Dragon is for players isn't quite true these days; it was certainly true last year. However, we've recieved a lot of feedback that indicates that it's important to have stuff for both DMs AND players in Dragon. There's been a lot more DM-focused articles in Dragon lately like new monster articles, a big article about the Far Realm, articles about NPC organizations (like Eberron's Cult of the Dragon Below), etc. The newest issue has a massive Forgotten Realms city article by Ed Greenwood.
Anyway, I'd recomend that you look through a couple of issues of the magazines at the newsstand before deciding which to buy.

Hello, I'm starting to dm for my freinds and since I'm not old anuf to get a job i wan't to know wich magazine will probly be beter for me dungeon or dragon. I need to know becuse I only have anuf mony for 1 subscription.
Thanks in advance,
Adam
If you don't have enough money for both, I'll go with the majority of the group and say go for 'Dungeon' first; if you're a good lad and study hard in school, maybe you can ask Mom and Dad to get you a 'Dragon' subscription for your birthday, holiday season or other milestone (honor roll, perhaps...)
If not, maybe just a spelling book. ;-)
Otherwise, you might want to ask them if you can earn the money for the second subscription with chores, or house jobs for mom.

Believe it or not - that's how I came to own my first own Player's Handbook!
I would vote for Dungeon as well! Even if there are some interesting articles in Dungeon - as a DM your money is WAY BETTER spent with Dungeon!!!However - parents love it when their kid is good in school. It might be a bit of work, but it's worth it! If your grades in schoold are good, it will be so much easier to convince your parents on how important a Dragon subscription will be for you... ;)
