Anyone else got the original Rod of Seven Parts box set?

Age of Worms Adventure Path

The new AP uses lots of background/histoy from the old RoSP boxed set. There's a side bar about the Rod in the Whispering Cairn adventure, but no actual reference to the original source material (it is a 1st Ed adventure, after all).

It's probably too soon to ask this - but I'm curious if anyone else is trying to invent a way to integrate some/all of the original box-set adventure into the AP?

I've got it, but haven't really considered re-visiting it with the new AP. I'll have to see whare the AP goes. If I recall correctly, I wasn't impressed with the Ro7P when it came out.

I have it (it's 2E, BTW), but doubt I'll integrate much into AoW (though I may change my tune once more of AoW is revealed).

One of the Vaati in the Ro7P is Qadeej, the same one responsible for defeating Miska (but this role isn't mentioned in Ro7P, from what I can tell). In Ro7P, he's only a 13th level wizard, which seems kind of weak for defeating a demon prince (but Miska has only 100 hp, IIRC, in Ro7P).

I believe Qadeej is mentioned as the Miska-slayer in the offal--sorry--awful "Rod of Seven Parts" novel, by Doug Niles. I read that on the same vacation I read China Mieville's "The Scar." It was not a flattering comparison.

Any thoughts/opinions on the AD&D version of the Ro7P by Skip Williams?

Had a blast with the original Rod of Seven Parts adventure. At the time we where playing Dark Sun so not only did the players have to deal with the Queen of Chaos and her minions but the group had to keep dodging the Sorcerer Kings and their servants who wanted the Rod. By the way I still have my original box set along with all the Vecna adventures that where published thru the years. That's why Age of Worms looks so good to us old school gamers. It not only touches on the Wind Dukes but it also is leading up to a mythic name from 1st edition D&D….Kyuss.

If you need the rules info on the Rod itself, it's in the Arms & Equipment Guide. As for the rest, well- I'd maybe have a Side-Trek every few AP adventures to find the parts of the Rod, if the PCs are so inclined. Maybe even give a Rod piece to an important NPC or two- maybe one to a powerful villain, and one a soon-to-be-killed ally who's been using it as a doorstop. Just remember- unless your group is really big or you reduce the XP parceled out, all that Side-Trekking will lead to so me pretty buffed out PCs.

You know, now I kinda want to use the Rod in my AoW game too.
