Ghazneths

3.5/d20/OGL

In the Forgotten Realms setting, the main campaign setting mentions cretures called Ghazneths who were enimies of the Cormyrian royal family the Obarskyrs. The books describe them as "magic draining winged creature of great power." But that's it.

I wanted to know if anyone out there knew what exactly they were and where I could find stats for them.

I am not sure where you can find stats on them, but they something of the major nemisis from the novels in the same series as Death of the Dragon. This series details an ancient elven enemy of Cormyr (thinks the land was taken from the elves, etc., etc.) who brings back old enemies of the Oberskyr family as Ghazneths. They feed on magic and it is nearly useless against them.

I didn't read the end of the series (got bored of it honestly) but I think they were all disposed of. Someone can correct on that if I am wrong though.

Second Edition versions of the Ghazneths can be found in Dragon Annual #4 on page 116-119.

Thanks Jester!

There is only one left, and he is . . . special. Its doubtful that he will cause any trouble in the future, though their stats might be helpful during the lead up to the war. Dispite that, they were quite difficult to kill in the final novel, and their destruction was very specifically tied to action taken by the royal family . . .
