I truly love "Lost Temple of Demogorgon"! It's a very well designed adventure, and the background is awesome. The presence of one of the orginal fourteen death knights, around which the entire adventure pivots, is simply a stroke of genius. Kudos to Mr. Reynolds, always a prolific and excellent writer!
But, Lord Khayven is not himself anymore! I mean, Dragon #191, page 98, states he's a CE 7th level paladin/10th level blackguard. Three years have passed, and now he's a LE 14th level fighter. Why?
That's not a complaint, of course, but I'd truly like to know the reasons behind these big changes.

I was wondering if anyone would notice that...
The info for Lord Khayven in Dungeon #120 should be considered the most up-to-date statblock for him.
Sean's original adventure had a different one of Demogorgon's death knights (I forget who right now, but it was a death knight that lives in Iuz) in the adventure, one whose class levels matched more closely. The editorial staff of Dungeon changed the death knight in "Lost Temple of Demogorgon" to Lord Khayven because that particualr death knight made more sense to be doing what he was doing in Greyhawk continuity, both because of his location in the world.
Since Lord Khayven only has a tiny little line of info in his mention in Dragon, it just seemed better to go that route rather than make one of the death knights with more established information do something that might seem out of character.
That said, if you've already established Lord Khayven as a paladin/blackguard, the best bet is to simply change his name in "Lost Temple" to something else. OR, if you're feeling particularly mean as a DM, stat him up as a paladin 7/blackguard 10 death knight and unleash him on your characters! MWA HA HA HA HA!
