I was hoping for some advice for a new (sort of) DM. I haven't played since 2nd Edition and me and my friends finally decided it was time to get back into gaming. The AP was a perfect excuse to get back into the DM role.
Jzadirune has all the trapped doors and I realize that the PCs won't get experience for every single door, but rather for each type of door/trap they bypass. The DMG states, "A trap never discovered or never bypasses was not encountered and hence no XP award.
Well, I imagine the group will soon start discovering some of the keys to these doors. If they get them and use them, will they start earning points for the traps? At this point, they have not "discovered" them (after realizing they couldn't pick the locks even by taking a 20, they just started using the tunnels) and also have not been affected by any. Just want some advice on how the XP would work and when they would earn it.
Thanks

I gave my PC's xp for the traps they triggered or bypassed using the open lock skill. I didn´t award them xp for the doors they opened using the keys. As an asside, Keygan is able to pick the locks. If the party manages to get him to enter Jzadirune, that is. I sugest awarding xp for those locks as well.

i am The GM for a party that is in Jzadirune right now i do not give them XP for any trap that goes off or any door opeaned with a KEY...
As for asking keygan to go into Jzadirune with them i would have never thought of that and if you give XP for him picking locks make sure do divide to amound the party including keygan.
