in Life's Bazaar now - Jil's involvement later in the campaign?

Shackled City Adventure Path

My party just entered the Malachite Fortress. I haven't introduced the Striders yet but I have dropped some clues about the Last Laugh guild.

I was thinking of having some thugs attack the PC's again when they start bringing out some of the prisoners. The Striders would show up and help take care of the released prisoners.

What I'm wondering is should involve Jil in this or does she has some importance later on? I certainly don't want the PC's to kill her if she is supposed to show up later on.

Jill and the Last Laugh show up again at their safehouse in Lords of Oblivion in Dungeon #111. The Striders play some importance in this encounter also. One of the leaders of the Last Laugh is at the meeting at Thifirane's house, but he doesn't show up in any other adventures. The other leaders are never really encountered. I'd suggest reading LoO and then decide how you want the Last Laugh to evolve.

Dark Archive

I'd also suggest seriously fleshing out the Last Laugh. The AP as written mentions them enough times for the PCs to take note but gives us DM almost no extra information on them. My PCs both times I've been going through the AP have attempted to find more information on the organization. The first time I had to scramble to come up with answers, but the second time I was ready and it made for a rich side-quest that helped level the party and also made them feel that they acheived something on their own initiative. At the least, stat out and detail the Jesters. The remainder of the Last Laugh can be made up of a mixture of those first level flunkies, and the slightly tougher guys in the safe house.

Thanks for the help. I've started to read ahead a bit. I definitely don't want to do anything drastic. Basically I want the PC's to realize that they've caught the attention of the Last Laugh, even if they don't exactly know the scope and power of the group. I'll probably throw some more thugs at them and have Jil give a scary speech.

My PCs are nearing the end of flood season. Jill's only apperance has been as a dark shadowy figure looking down into the alley during the opening encounter. My players still are constantly on guard looking for her when they move through the streets of cauldron. Everyonce in a while I allow them a glimpse but just enough to tease them and keep the paranoid.
