What's up with shipping costs in the store?

Customer Service

I spent some time in the new store site. I had selected several RPG books to purchase only to be dismayed at the exorbitant shipping costs for my order. The cheapest option was over $25! Needless to say, I canceled my order. I'm frustrated as I wanted to buy the books, the prices looked like a decent deal, but the shipping made it better to buy the books somewhere else.

Disappointed in the store,

Rooster

Thanks for your feedback, Rooster.

If you get a chance, please email me the list of items you intended to order, and I will personally investigate. (robert.head@paizo.com)

I tested your apparent scenario by adding four different D&D hardcovers to my order. Ground shipping for me came to $12.50 (or free if the total is $100 or more).

As far as explaning why your shipping was more expensive, there are several possibilities:

A) Are you outside of the United States?

B) Were you pre-ordering several products not yet on the market? By their nature, preorders ship separately and therefore cost more to ship than items that are immediately available and can ship together.

Regards,
Rob

I as well wanted to order some items back when the store has just opened. The main reason was because you guys have stuff I wouldnt even get on Amazon. But I almost fell from my chair when I saw the shipping costs for those items (I think they were Blackmoor, Rappan Athuk, Countless Doors and Castle Zagyg). The shipping costs to Switzerland were....*cough* 88$ *cough*...C'mon, thats almost as much as the price for all items. I get lots of stuff from Ebay that is from the U.S. But never ever have I seen such a price for USPS shipping to Europe. When I calculate the package on USPS for Airmail Parcel I got around 30$ for the whole thing..The reason I get 80$+ on the Paizo store escapes me.

Someone care to enlighten me?

Hmm...

We'll look into it.

Hmm ,could it be that the system accidentally chooses Gobal Express package rates? Looking at the price of 86$, then adding some $ for the packaging it could get to those 88$...

Out of curiousity, what are you estimating as the weight of said package to come up with your figures?

6.something pounds..I took the numbers from Amazon which sometimes states the weight of an item. If the weight was not present I estimated it by taking weights from other RPG books that have the same page count.

Excellent. Thanks for the info.

We'll continue to look into it. I'll let you know if and when anything changes.

Got an ad mail from paizo today that talked about lower shipping costs

Next, through some great effort on the part of my shipping team, we have been able to lower your UPS shipping costs! So, come to paizo.com and enjoy our new lower shipping prices.

Looks like this only applies to US customers since when I jumped over to the store to have a look the prices for European shipping were still at critical hit level...So does this mean that those prices will stay the same or do I have a chance to order some products from the paizo store in the future without going brancrupt because of the shipping costs :)
