Article Idea - Template

I've got plans for a couple of odd templates and was wondering what the interest level would be. The first template concerns beings that have been magically imprisoned for long periods of time and the drawbacks/benefits that their incarceration has bestowed upon them. The second is still more in the planning stages thatn anything else and concerns beings who have been over run with disease and the drawbacks/benefits this has given them.

Both of these templates would have varying degrees of effectiveness depending upon, in the first case, how long they have been imprisoned.

Magically imprisoned, like the imprisonment from the Deck of Many Things? That'd be cool to see on the rare occasions that someone got out how it effected them. It'd also depend on the type of impresonment, no? Like in a black void vs a white void vs on a island floating through nothingness vs whatever a DM can think up for magical imprisonment.

First ability it gets is the ability to break out of stuff - walk through walls of force, break out of grapples, ignore entanglement and stuff. It explains how it got out of being imprisoned. (You'd generally have to be quite powerful to break out of being imprisoned, so this would make it a template to add to high level characters or powerful creatures.)

They'd also probably go somewhat nuts without any human contact, so I'd continue by dropping their Wisdom (and applying Diplomacy/Bluff/etc penalties), upping their Charisma a load, if they're a divine spellcaster or something they might like to change their primary spellcasting stat to Cha too because all their power comes from being REALLY ANNOYED, throw in high spell resistance for good measure, Cha to AC as deflection, and throw in some spell-likes and resistances for good measure. Top it off with darkvision and glowy eyes to make them look cool.

Interesting points, not the direction I was taking it, but interesting none-the-less.

Most of the powers/abilities of the template are gained while imprisoned and are typically a part of how the imprisoned creature would eventually escape. Example: The creature gains telepathy so that it can communicate with others to try and convince them to help free the creature. The final ability gained is something along the lines of 'break the prison' which lets the creature know exactly how they can escape. Most of the abilities depend on the creature getting outside help. In the case of more powerful creatures (like an entrapped demon or devil) they typically would try to find minions using these abilities and set them up as a cult to free them.

Charisma would go down, dude, not up. Charisma is how likable and, well, charismatic they are. They would go somewhat insane and become not-so-good with people (a minus to charisma). That's why bluff and deplomacy and such are based on charisma. Other than that your ideas sound pretty cool Jonathan. Your ideas are pretty cool too, Chase. You could make a couple different templates, depending on the circumstances of their imprisonment and escape.

Charisma is also personal power. Like the sorcerers, his abilities come from the power flowing inside him.

For an example of what Taricus and Jonathan are describing, take a look at the racial madness of the Derro. It costs them wisdom for a large charisma bonus.
