I'd just like to congratulate Erik Mona on his promotion to EIC of both Dragon and Dungeon Magazines.
I'd also like to congratulate Jason Buhlman on his appointment as Dragon Associate Editor.
Well done both of you - I'm very optimistic about the future of both magazines normally, but this is fantastic news.
On the other hand, perhaps I should offer commiserations to Erik, who has just seen any free time he might have left wander away into the sunset... ;-)
Erik, you've been dropping hints about this recently: What are your plans for Dragon Magazine?
Cheers,
Merric Blackman

I'm thinking 64 pages, black and white, with lots of coverage of Traveller and Dawn Patrol. You know, just like in the good old days. :)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
OTOH, if you can bring back hex-grid wilderness maps, I'd be very happy. ;-)
The ENworld congratulations thread is here, Erik:

Congratulations to Erik and Jason. Erik, how do you hope to handle both Dungeon and Dragon at the same time? Do you plan on not sleeping much in the near future?
I don't sleep much as it is. That's what Saturday's for.
The truth is that I've got a phenomenal staff of editors working under me. I'll be managing that department and choosing themes, features, etc., but each and every editor on the team contributes significantly. James Jacobs has been a real hero for Dungeon over the last couple years, and our new Editorial Assistant, Jeremy Walker, is making an impact as well. Over on Dragon, I've inherited an absolutely amazing staff. Mike McArtor and Wesley Schneider are extremely capable, extremely thoughtful editors. Believe me, you'll be hearing from these guys for a long time.
And Jason, well, I hand-picked Jason for the job, and am thrilled to be working with him.
Lastly, I think my art team of Sean Glenn, Mike Schley, and Sarah Robinson is the most capable and exciting in the RPG industry. What a gift.
I've wanted to run Dragon ever since I got my first issue (#78, if memory serves), but I never thought in a million years I'd be backed up by a team as strong as this one.
Look for big things in the future.
This is going to be fun.

Just a quick question about something that may be impacted by the change:
Does this change affect queries (and submissions) sent recently? I sent a query on September 24th, and have yet to hear back. Two and a half weeks sounds like a long time to get a reply back for a query.
Of less concern is some submissions I had sent shortly before that date. It's less of a concern, because I know submissions can take longer. I just want to make sure nothing goofy may have happened in the process. :)

Well, plenty of goofy things have happened, but nothing major in the way of queries and submissions. Jason Bulmahn has taken over most of the query and submission response and is now in charge of the main Dragon email. Since he just recently started, he's dealing with a massive backlog of queries and submissions. I don't know how long it will take for Jason (since I'm not him) to catch up with all that email, but it will happen. :)
One of the things Erik did to lessen some of the burdon on Jason was to put Wesley Schneider and myself in charge of finding content for certain parts of the magazine. Queries and submissions for those parts of the magazine should go to us now instead of dragon@paizo.com.
Of the sections that Wes handles, potential (or frequent) contributors should know that he's now the go-to guy for Ecology and Spellcraft articles. He handles a lot more than that, but we tend to commission the other sections he works in. If you have proposals for Ecology or Spellcraft articles, send them his way. :)
The sections I directly deal with are Class Acts, Gaining Prestige, and Winning Races. If you have proposals for those, send them my way. :)

Excellent, Mike. Since my most recent query was entirely Class Acts articles, I'll go forward that to you right now. Expect an e-mail from me shortly. :)
I also have a suggestion that may or may not be useful. Have you considered using an "auto responder" on the dragon@paizo.com and dungeon@paizo.com accounts? At least that way, people know the e-mail was received. When you have a large backlog, you can alter the message to indicate that, too.
Thanks for your assistance, Mike!
edit: Also, would you and Wes like me to resubmit my recent submissions? One was a Gaining Prestige, one was a spellcraft and two were Equipment articles. Sorry if I sound like a pest. ;)

Pest away. :) The auto responder idea sounds like something to be discussed among those higher up the food chain than me. ;)
Feel free to resend those articles to Wes and I, respectively.
