Hey everyone.
I'm curious if any of you have purchased those glass gems/half marbles for gaming, & if you know of a site where you can get a great variety of colors without having to buy 20 of each color.
If you're not sure what these are, here is an image:
https://www.etsy.com/shop/StarryNightStudios99?section_id=12081041&ref= shopsection_leftnav_7&order=price_asc&page=1
The bottom is flat & the top is rounded. In a few of my games, we used them instead of mini's, with each of us picking a color, & then NPCs fitting into the other shades. In another game, the PCs had mini's but most NPCs were half marbles.
Thanks so much, if you know! Let me know.
All my best

Hey, I moved to NYC in Nov '11 & looking for a GM/Storyteller/gaming group that has room or wants another for an in person game, not play by post.
I've usually played mystics, druids, witches, & sorcerers in 3.5 & PF, but have been known to play other things. I also have experience with nWoD & Werewolf.
I'm up for any system really - but no Pathfinder Society stuff. I do want to try some new systems outside of the d20 bubble, but it's all good.
Also open to any theme & setting - transhuman tragedy, epic fantasy, superheroes, horror, real life drama, supernatural, dark age magic, etc. Just getting a good bunch of people together & roleplaying a great story & developing characters.
World of Darkness (Werewolf would be awesome), Cerulean Seas, Eoris, Noble Wild, Ars Magica, Minimus, Legends of Anglerre, Polaris, Barbarians of Lemuria, Strands of Fate, Eclipse Phase, diaspora, Mystic Empyrean, Into Dreams, etc etc,
I really want to try something non-d20. (I have Strands of Fate but have yet to play it)
I'm 25, laidback & easy going, mellow & sane guy. I've GMed before too, & might have to again, but want to be a player for a while. Something like Ars Magica or Mystic Empyrean would be cool because of the noGM-ability.
I'm in it for the character & the roleplay, the fun & the story. Not min/maxxing, boardgaming, numbercrunchery. Let me know!
Availability-wise, I work fulltime with two days off a week. I live in Red Hook in Brooklyn. Up to travelling anywhere in Manhattan, & part of BK. Might be able to host a small group here after I've met some people

Hello. I'm making a character for a new PFS game & was told to look into Tian Xia as I had questions about character background. I want to play an elf, but curious if elves - having seemingly spread everywhere - are in Tian Xia.
I know there are so far at least mentioned in Paizo's products:
Aquatic Elves
Desert Elves
Dark elves
Gray elves (Mordant Spire)
Snowcaster elves
Wild elves
Now I know a few people who dislike the "every kind of elf" question, so please if that's you, I don't want arguments or anything like that. I'm just curious.
Thanks so much!

Hello. I'm curious about something.
I'm using Heroes of Horror's suggestion:
I have a campaign where monsters are "rare, & each is likely unique. However they each came to be in their different ways, each one is practically impossible to kill. Only those with the skills & fortitude to investigate each monster & determine what methods can be used to permanently eliminate it can hope to rid the region of the beasts that terrorize it." (The Medusa is a good example of this. Killed by her reflection. In my world there would be only one, not a whole race of Medusas walking around). Compare this with Greek myths, where not many have ever seen monsters but there are tales about them & anyone that can kill them are heroes of the ages.
Has anyone tried this & made it work? My players seem to keep thinking do enough damage & it dies. Very board game in that respect, after a while. The fight with Meninx (essentially my version of Medusa) taught them to look for weaknesses or find some other strength in order to defeat her.
I'm not sure how to go on with the others though. I have an idea for a Minotaur & other things (yes, taking from the old, but spinning with my own ideas), but how do I balance these two things?:
-Making the players realize they can't just rush in & start hacking at the monster/humanoid monster thinking of the hit points only in their heads..showing them they need to know its weakness or be armed against it with a special weapon, etc etc
-Still have them feel like heros. (is this essential though haha) It's all in the storytelling & the roleplay, how the surrounding peoples of the jungles look at them as heros & saviors of the forest for defeating the vile Meninx & her obsidian tendrils.. but is there more than this? Should all creatures have some weakness as they do in the greek myths?
Thanks! If anyone's tried this "variant" of sorts, do let me know how it went, or if you parted ways with the idea a few monsters in.
Has anyone played both Strands of Fate & Dresden Files? It seems like there are a lot of FATE systems out there, & I got the newest one, but something about Dresden looks cool. What does it do differently from Strands of Fate? DO you prefer one or the other, & if so, which one & why?
THanks. Please help me decide whether to just buy them both or stick with SoF!
Personally, I like having the ability to use one system for any setting (not always possible though, which is alright). But Dresden's pretty pages.. & cool magics, as far as I can tell (& the character sheets look pretty amazing) look great. However, I am an outsider to the Dresden world & likely always will be; I just want an awesome system.
Let me know what you think. I have SoF but am curious about its brother, DF. haha

Hey everyone. I've been paging through this forum looking at people's posts about other games out there. I must have 30 tabs open at the moment of things to check out.. haha. I thought I would make a thread seeking advice on something I've been trying to find for a long time.
A roleplaying game with rules that make the focus on the roleplay, the characters, the development, the stories.
I know that it can be done with Pathfinder (though I homebrew it dramatically into a FASCRIP style amalgam you can see here), & I've also done it with World of Darkness.
Both were tons of fun.
I am merely trying to find something different. It isn't completely that I'm bored with the rules of these two systems, but I feel like maybe there is something else out there I would totally love, but have no idea where to start!
Here are some things I have looked into more in depth:
Ars Magica - It sounds fun, but after reading pages & pages of forums, it seems common opinion is that with each edition the Magic system & rules get more complicated. The troupe style could be interesting, but when I GM/ST, I know that not all my friends who are playing will want to play mages. As much as I would want to try it myself, I can't seeing it work with the people who game when I GM.
Blue Rose - it sounds beautiful but just starting to look into it. A lot of the reason I try to look for something outside of Pathfinder & d20 is the odd ability scores of Dexterity & Charisma. (In my own system I split Dexterity into Finesse, which handles nimble handedness, & Agility, which is more akin to bodily dexterity. I've also never liked how the book tries to make Charisma into two things at once: force of will & how much people like you. While I realize they'd be related, to have them as one stat never worked for me). Currently trying to find out if Blue Rose has the same d20 stats, or does things differently, as the setting sounds beautiful. I also just found out is a setting for True20.
Dresden Files - I know nothing about the TV show, & have only looked at a character sheet. I liked how different it was, though I know nothing about the FATE system either. I have heard it is more about roleplay, so I'm looking into this one too. Is everyone meant to be a magician in this system, though?
Angel/Buffy (dramatic Unisystem) - I had these books a long time ago & lost them in a move. I remember liking them but at the time I had just been new to d20 & didn't really understand much of it.
I've also looked at the iCAR system (though for me to sit & read all the pages of it.. would take a LONG time.. one day haha), as well as the beautiful Into Dreams. (I'll post links to these shortly). Into Dreams seems like it could be made into something completely different, or used as a sort of different system when characters in another one "go into dreams".
I like in depth creation & stories, where the players have more control over their character's story. I am not a fan of class systems but have compromised in the FASCRIP homebrew mashup I made.. I'm just trying to find something I can play out of a book as is. Or mostly as is.
I also have never been great with high level d20 play. I'm not saying I need my fantasy to be as realistic as a modern game, but I tend to play E8. (This is another reason I like World of Darkness.. but still looking!)
Thanks in advance. If you can offer advice on lines to look at, with a little info about each one, & your experience with it, what you think of it, how it relates to previous editions if any, etc etc, it would be so appreciated!
Hello all.
I recently purchased the very detailed Dark Elf Sorceress miniature:
Dark Elf Sorceress with staff & dagger
I'm curious if anyone has any advice for painting feathers? Her hair is a bit anime for my tastes, & I want to try & paint the front strands as light feathers, like a feather head dress.
If anyone knows a good place to buy tiny half inch feathers, let me know. I can't find any anywhere haha.
My original idea is to paint them white or bonewhite, then etch the strands with brown.
Or do you think it is just not doable, as the mold is not very feather friendly? In which case I'll just have to accept the anime hair & call them elf dreds.. haha
Any tips on doing this - especially tough since they aren't molded as feathers in the first place - would be highly appreciated! Thank you tons. Share your ideas/opinions
Hello, I am curious if anyone at Paizo will be translating Pathfinder into Spanish. I would really like to buy the core book, advanced guide, & ultimate magic, but not in English. I have them in English but SPanish is better here.
I searched the boards before posting this & the only thread that really hit this on the nail was from 2008 before it was locked.
I would like to offer translation services if no one is currently officially working on this, as I think Pathfinder could be huge in SPanish speaking places all over the world, & I'm unsure if D&D ever went that route. Tap into it Paizo, you're a great company!
Thanks for your time. If anyone knows of any plans to translate & release books in Spanish, please respond!
Hey, I'm in Duluth & looking for a GM/Storyteller/gaming group that has room or wants another. (in person game, not play by post. haha)
I usually play druids, witches, & sorcerers, but have been known to play other things.
Pathfinder, World of Darkness (Werewolf or Hunter would be awesome), Buffy, Cerulean Seas, etc etc
I may end up running one but thought I'd post here as none of my friends do the tabletop thing.
I'm 24.
I'm in it for the character & the roleplay, the fun & the story. Let me know!
Hey. I'm trying to think why my Nature Oracle has the Clouded Vision curse, or vice versa. Any advice?
I've seen great ideas for other combo's, such as Heaven/Clouded, where the Powers that Be simply want you to only see the night stars at a certain point. etc etc.
But I've tried for a while now & can't think of a reason why this combination would be. Please help. Thanks!
I have a question regarding this in the Advanced Players' Guide.
In the level 3 Bloodline Power "Aquatic Adaptation" you gain swim speed. Why is there no mention of "if you already have a swim speed, you instead gain x amount on top of your current" (x = smaller than what someone without it would gain, but still allowing the ability to be useful to someone who has it) ??
Please let me know if there is errata out there or if I just don't gain anything related to swim speed until the 10 ft increase (to 60) at higher level. Thank you.
I'm making a Mermaid sorcerer & was set on this bloodline but the level 3 ability's worth is lowered greatly as I already have a swim speed. Thank you.
One more thing, is there merfolk errata somewhere regarding the +2 AC that the listed merfolk gains, but is omitted in the "Characters" description of them? Thank you
Does anyone know if this equates to size large on a battlemat? Thanks!

I just read Wildfire, the second book, for the third time. I cannot get enough of it!
Has anyone read these? The first, 'Firethorn', is wonderful & a great character study. She's a witness to everything, really the perfect person to be narrating as she's hardly involved with much of the action. I don't want to spoil too much in case I've piqued your interest but she lives in a sexist, feudal (part of the) world & much is against her throughout the series. The introduction hooked me, when she lived in the Kingswood & a berry from the Firethorn tree gave her a healing song & the ability to see in the dark.
Nothing extremely strong, obviously, but it is still a fantastical story.
The second book, 'Wildfire' makes the first feel like an introduction (which is needed). The epic scale of her journey, especially with the enormous events going on around the world, (I can't spoil it!!) is amazing. It's very moving. Action, drama, tragedy, & it isn't a mushy romance.
The third one is set to come out this year I believe.(after the OH MY GOD so shockingly WOW ending of the second.. like the rug has been pulled out from under the viewer. In such a good way haha.. it's very difficult to wait)
Having read countless works of speculative fiction, from sci fi to straight up fantasy, I rank the Firethorn series in the ultimate top tier. The writing is perfect & the characterization is wonderful. She is no Mary Sue. As hard as Firethorn's world would be to live in, I find myself going back to read the second book over.. & over.. haha
I rank it up there with the first two books of the Dragonlance series. (The ending of the second Dragonlance is still one of the best written moments in any series!)
Anyway, wow I wrote a really long ranty review. But I thought I'd share because believe me when I say it is worth a read, esPECially the second one.
(personal note: the cover of the first one is kind of scary/hideous, & the cover to the second is absolutely gorgeous)
EDIT: AND I meant to mention the Divining Compass! It is printed in the first few pages of each book. I have used this in some of my games. Quite fun! After reading the books & pretty much having all the godsigns down, it's fun to "cast the bones" haha. here is a link to the digital Divining Compass:

I noticed that in the Bestiary, the Eagle & Giant Eagle both have a speed of 10 feet. Their flying speeds are the same as well, which may be the case, but it seems very wrong that their land speeds are the exact same. I highly doubt a large eagle would keep pace with the small one.
Was 20 feet intended for the Giant Eagle? Or some other amount? Is there errata information I'm unaware of?
Thank you!

Hey again. I have another Oracle question haha.
It's clear in the APG that Oracles are granted a curse & powers against their choice or knowledge.
How have you made this work in a character backstory? Not so much a "why did this lead them to go out and stumble into/look for adventure?", but maybe a little of that. I want to know more about how you turned the one paragraph of information about the Oracle class into your character's story. Do you make them have a life before that, or do you make it so they are born this way? etc etc
I can't decide on my Oracle of Nature's backstory at all. I could just copy & paste the gist of that paragraph in their class description from the APG whenever I'm asked about her history, but I'm trying to think more deeply. & somehow this week, my creativity has been drained. Hopefully my creative juices will come back soon haha. Until then, tell us about your Oracle/s & how they were chosen to receive their abilities/curses, etc! Or just share some advice for me if you don't want to do so. Discussing Mysteries, Curses, etc..
Thanks a ton!

I'm curious as to what everyone thinks of the Oracle's Deaf Curse. While I could always take the haunted curse (a total cop out compared to deaf or blindness), I really want to take the deaf one.
I want people's opinions. If you are maybe waiting for Ultimate Magic to do anything with the Oracle because you think their curses should be less physical & more spiritual/metaphysical/paranormal/mental/social, etc.
Or better yet if anyone has played an oracle with the Deaf curse! I googled it & no one has really played one. In playtest reviews it seemed people chose Haunted or Tongues, which are much different than the others I think.
I am looking at the Heavens Mystery, but also considering Flame/Life/Nature if one of the other players doesn't show up. Obviously in most of the Mystery there is mention of an ability being usable "when you can see ____". Such as "When you can see the stars at night.." (the blind curse prevents the oracle from accessing this, essentially)
I am still sort of considering the Clouded Vision Curse, but give me your thoughts on the Deaf one please. Let's talk these two curses!
